Advanced Potions Making

This is my first message, but I'm reading this thread since the first day, and I have to say that it's the most amazing paper prop that I ever seen. I really hope that you could make it a free paper prop. I would die for have that spectacular work. Congratullations, really.

So I know I'm gonna sound like the greedy idiot, but do you plan to make this into a free paper prop? I would LOVEEEEE to have this maybe as a pdf and be able to show off this AMAZING prop to my friends!!!! thanks so much, ffg

I answer as before:

"I have really bad experiences with free props because ebay, stolen and recasting pages; same with pdf files. People who asking for purchase a copy of my work, really knows how many hours it takes to do something like this."

I will try to adjust the price as much as possible so everyone can have a copy of the book.

May have been mentioned and I missed it but how are you having this printed and bound or is that something you have not covered yet?

Well, I bound, repair and handmade antique books and my grail diary of course, but that book is quite different. It is not a handmade book like grail diary. It is a "magical industrial" book or whatever :lol anyway, it have a machine bookbinding so I will probably try in a print-on-demand type service...

Think this will be great I think the Film used one is 60 pages so a lot of hard work to go but I think it will be worth it!!

Ah ok. I make books from time to time so I was curious to see what you would choose.

If I was to try and make a cover would you suggest dyeing the paper or printing the purple on? I think I saw on another thread that you suggested using rives bfk which I have made covers from and I like the feel but I dont know how my printer will respond to it.

I used the Rives BFK in another thread ( I made only the cover, not the inside). Inkjet does not respond as well with that paper from my experience, unless it is coated with the inkaid stuff, or some other medium for prepping papers for inkjet. I tried it once without it and the resolution wasn't as good. I agree though, the texture is pretty nice.

I have seen references where the cover looks like it's printed on some kind of canvas materal, and other's that appear more like a smoother worn out cloth. There are certainly some variances among the props

Sorry ECL, it can sometimes be confusing when lots of people are making the same props. So what do you think about dying the paper, applying the inkaid, then printing? Did the inkaid seem to muss or bother the color at all?

Hello Tom, I don't have any experience with dye, but that sounds interesting. The only thing is that art part of the design is lighter, (mainly part of the smoke design out of the cauldron) But that would depend on how you plan on printing the rest of the image on there. I put the inkaid on before any printing was done, and am not sure how it would react to dye, but it seems like it would be fine. I ended printing everything and then slowly going over everything with very light washes of acrylic medium and paint to add it depth and also wear parts of it.

Can't wait to see the finished work, I've been wanting something like this for a while, but don't have the skill to do it myself..

Hey all! I'm brand new here and I signed up because of these projects! I want to say that this looks like an awesome project. I'd be interested in on of these books as well, whenever you have them all set up. I look forward to seeing more!

Like many others I have seen on here; I just wanted to say this is amazing work, I was initially speechless, lots of time and dedication has clearly gone into this. I only joined this forum through this post as I was so impressed and very anxious to see the end result. I would definitely purchase a copy if you decided to release a copy of this work, digitally or in an actual book form.
Thank you!!

Thank you all!

I have more new pages, but I only want to show this one today (I really love it).

I hope you like it :)
Regards.

How many pages do you have finished? I saw a few posts ago that you had about 70 of 250 or something? It would be awesome if these were finished before Halloween. It would be an nice addition to my Gryffindor costume! Keep up the great work. :)
