A proposal for those that do a "run". Thoughts?

Well, it's my 10th year anniversary and my 10,000 post. I've been thinking about something for a while (so I'll pull the trigger today) and thought I'd put the question to you: If you do a run and ask for a deposit, how about making it a requirement that the seller has to post something to the thread at least once a week. Granted, oftentimes there is nothing to report, but at least this shows the folks you've accepted a deposit from that you're still around and still on pointe. Do you feel this is asking too much? Thoughts?
(Oh, mods, if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it.)

I would like that.

I feel there are certain runs here that go far too long without any update, or an update that says "pics in a week" or "shipping soon" then it is a month before any update.

It takes 2 minutes to post an update,...I don't buy this "too busy" stuff.

As a father of 2 I still find time to post.

If you have the time to reasearch, intrest, run, and collect payment (partial or full) you should update- I don't care who you are or what your reputation here is.

It's common courtesy.

I always advocate open communication, even when there is no update... Constant updates as you imply are a good thing, especially once you take money...

When it comes to a single post in a thread to keep everyone up to date I agree...

But things can change when you have 10, 30, 50 or more PMs and emails a day to answer as well... I can understand that same day or even next day replies don't always happen...

Totally agree.

However, when you keep everyone up to date with one single post it will reduce the amount of emails and PMs you get from people who are wondering what the hell is going on.

I don't think Funky was talking about email and PMs though.

You are correct, sir.
I've seen so many runs go south due to poor communication. The seller feels he is giving sufficient updates though they are three weeks apart. Hey, if this sucker has my cash I'd like an update once a week on the thread, even if he just says, "I'm on it." Maybe I ask too much?

I think it just gives people some peace of mind if nothing else......I'm on the order list for the HCG Pulse Rifle and while I do trust them to come through....they have not contacted me at all stating they've been delayed for 6-7months....I need to keep going to them or reading here.

A little off topic there, but even with big prop companies its annoying as heck.
I'm still a newb' here as my post count shows....but personally I'd rather have "no news guys" instead of no news at all.

That sounds good. I'd like to add that it would be nice if folks left their prices up. Sometimes I'll search for something I bought (and I can't remember what I paid, or I want to see what it's going for) and all you have is "Sold / Done." Same goes for pictures of for sale items.

Should I ever do a run ;) I would have no problems with posting an update once a week or once every two weeks. However, sometimes reality does intrude.

You folks who expect constant communication, how would you feel if nothing had actually been worked on that week? Would you start getting angry and demanding your money back? Or just wait it out?

If I hadn't done anything, I'd be a little embarrassed to admit as such to be honest. Not everything moves quickly when it's done in ones spare time. I have a sculpt on the back burner that I haven't done anything with for weeks, for example. If I had taken money for it (and I haven't, nor have I even announced it) I wouldn't want anyone thinking I'm lazy and backing out.

I'm not advocating for months on end of silence, mind you. Just a hypothetical look on the other side; perhaps some of our other members who do runs can shed some light on this as well.

GO FOR IT,be the one that others measure themselves by.I've never been on a run list, but if i was i'd want all the info/updates/news on a weekly basis. Now if anyone is gonna do a good run and let me have stuff cos i'm such a nice guy....then bring it on...lol

I should have posted here but my Mother's father's cousin's sister's uncle's brother's mother's sister in law's little sister's best friend next door's mailman got sick and died.... and my computer died.....and i just happen to get fired......and moved.....my gf brokeup... or she cheated.......... But don't worry, I got all your money and will start making the run as soon as these topics have cleared up....who can say how long time it will take but ,Hey... trust me :)

And that's why you should never offer anything until the molds are ready...

I like the idea, as well. As a seller, I feel the stress to get stuff out and posting might relieve some of the stress letting folks know I'm working on it.
