I love this prop. We have recently been re-discussing at http://www.therpf.com/f9/rotj-rebel-limpet-mine-used-endor-bunker-92544/
(not sure why they are calling a limpet mine in thatthread).
What did you used for construction? Did you research hte size or just go on instinct? Did you include any magnets at the bottom?

i used the top of an old lantern, a few random motherboard components, clay and some balsa wood that i carved out. for size reference i looked at as many pictures as i could find and the still frames in the movie. then i molded it and cast it out of smooth cast 65d glad you like it. 
was planning on putting magnets or a suction cup on the bottom not decided yet. but i'm definitely going to be putting lights and a functional knob on it maybe even a small speaker so it'll beep when i cast it i put a plastic cup in the bottom so it's pretty much hollow plenty of room for electronics and a battery
