45. Longslide with Laser Products sight, update

Got the Daisy laser sight at Academy Sports. Had to dismantle it to get the laser sight out but after that it fit perfectly.

Nice....did you make the scope too ??? If I can ever find a scope , mine will be complete then

I still need, well, pretty much everything. If anyone runs across a NPC Grip Mount or a Laser Products Laser, let me know. I can find Longslides fairly eaily, but that grip mount has been a bear to find and the laser is pretty much impossible.

10940549_399208470246790_3323478143668970444_n.jpgdone a few off them

I got a guy selling me a NPC mount for $40. He's gonna send a pic and if it's as described I'm grabbing it.

I think I'm gonna try to source someone to machine me a tube for the laser while I save up for a Longslide. I'll hunt for those rings at the same time.

I doubt I'll find an original laser, especially at a price I can afford. They are pretty rare and you usually have to buy the gun they are on.

Just seeing if anyone has any updates on their Longslide projects.

I still need either a real laser or someone to build a replica tube.

I have the NPC mount. I've held off dropping the cash for the AMT Longslide until I get a laser or replica laser tube. I've missed out on two in the last year or so. Including one where the guy didn't know what he had and cut it in two to get it off his Mini 14! And then he threw out the pieces!

Jumping in on this...I have one of the NBB Airsoft Hardballers, and I'd like to see if I can find the correct mount and laser housing as well. I'd be interested in castings or printed versions if anyone can help me out.

The NPC mount can be found but it might take awhile. They were fairly common in the 80's so there are survivors out there. Note that the mount is black and the mount and the one grip panel is all one unit. They removed the finish on the upper part for the movie but left the grip panel part black. eBay and Gunbroker are your best bets as well as checking every "old parts bin" at every old gunshop you find.

You'll never find a laser tube. Seriously. They made less then 50 and after 30 plus years their aren't that many survivors and they very rarely come up for sale. When they do it's usually with a gun attached and at collector prices.

I'm still looking for someone to make me a tube out of aluminum to mount a laser. I've seen guys use resin tubes but that won't work for a live fire build. I don't have any contact info but there may be some in this thread.

Any reference pics of the rear of the sight tube? I've seen enough of the front. Going to scratchbuild the tube for now, and find a different brand grip mount until I can locate an NPC.

Here is what I came up with.

Gun is a Marui Non-Blowback (NBB) AMT Hardballer. Took me a while to find it.

The scope mount I bought off eBay. I figured I could modify it to look more like the NPC mount. The scope is scratchbuilt using copper and PVC plumbing parts. Scope ring is the correct one - had one of those in my parts box.

Finished everything with Krylon chrome.

Here's a pic of my build. Western Arms Hardballer, real NPC grip mount cut down with the NPC logo removed, I made the AMT logo insert in the grip from miliput. The laser is a mixture of steel and aluminum tubing housing a diode laser made to the dimentions that Demetrius posted. The wires are inlaid in the back side of the grip mount to the hammer spring and trigger bar so when you squeeze the trigger the laser is activated just like in the move. Still need to make a replica of the DeSantis rig for my UZI.

Fantastic build!

The original lasers are unobtainable. They only made about 50. It's unknown how many survive. Many were trashed when they quit working. If you do find one, it will most likely be still mounted on a gun and the seller will not want to separate it from the gun. They are collector's items now and pricey. I passed on one for $1500 on a rifle because I didn't have the cash. He did sell it later at that price.

The grip mounts come up from time to time. Look on eBay and Gunbroker. It took me about five or six months to find one. You also need the correct scope ring. Again, eBay and Gunbroker

The AMT Hardballer .45 come up on Gunbroker now and then as well. Just keep looking there and you'll find one. Prices are all over the place but budget about $1,000. You might get a bargain though.

Btw, the Desantis rig is still available, but only in black. If you do your own leather work you could always buy one to use as a pattern to make a brown one and then resell it
