3D Printer - Realistic Costs

I don't know why people are arguing about detail so much. Clean up is always needed and it's substantially easier to add detail to an already detailed item than making it from scratch.

It's a matter of getting small details cleanly on there, many details aren't really capable of being scratch built, and if a detail is small enough then it's very difficult to clean up without ruining it.

As far as details go, I can not offer any information other than when I get the printer up and running, I will test and post!
I am building a 1/72 Revell Gato and converting it to a Balao sub called Batfish. So I will test it out on that. What about 3d scanners? ( or should I start a different thread?)

Pulled the trigger. Went with Makerbot Replicator 2. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks, I am not sure that we are at a good start. It arrived and setup was a breeze. I printed the nut and bolt, it came out oval. Adjusted the x and y travel. Much better. Stopped printing. Clogged end. There is something to be said about tearing apart your equipment, you sure get to know it intimately.
