3D print extrusion help

All good things to know. It’s a printer that was sat in a loft at work and I bought home to see if it did anything. Cheap filament seemed smart when there was the possibility that the printer was only good for scrap.

Amazon has a lot of GREAT cheap filaments, but I now check "latest reviews," before buying.

More than once I have purchased cheapo filament with four to five-star reviews, only to find out all the one-star reviews began a month ago.

I usee to print everything in PetG, but PLA+ has won me over for its versatility.

Some filaments come with nozzle cleaning filament, run that through before changing filaments.

Always print upper end of hot.

Print 5% slower than top speed.

If there is a round gouge in the filament that you pull out of the extruder, it probably means that the feed gear wore through it while trying to push the filament into the hot end. This can happen if the nozzle is plugged, or there is a failure in the hot end. Sometimes the temperature sensor fails and thinks it's hotter than it should be, then fails to signal that the hot end needs heat. So the printer thinks it's fine, but can't push filament into a cold hot end.
