1408 Dolphin Hotel Paper Props Thread!

I assume having them done on brass would be pretty cheap. If anyone finds an Etsy person or something that would do a run, I'm sure there'd be a few of us interested in a set. Just an idea.
 
Big update!

I managed to do a pretty good postcard design. Except the photos on the front and the stamp, the whole design was redrawn. You will find 3 variants of the postcard with the same dimension - 140 x 90 mm.
1st variant - clean:

Decided to give it a try on the book covers and am not that unhappy with the result. If we had a better resolution pic, it would be much better of course, but overall and for now it'll do. Tomorrow will try the other book and see how it turns out

Forgot to say that the photos from the postcard are from screencaps cleaned up as best as I could, but the inside shot was made from at least 2 images. The stamp is an existing design taken from the internet.
 
I've been google mapping around Manhattan trying to see different hotels for the last hour or so. Just went back to check the New Yorker, and it doesn't seem to match up. I'm probably wrong, but it's a strange one. Doesn't look like the New Yorker on street view.

I would assume the building on the postcard is an old closed hotel / non-hotel building, rather than any legal implications using the image of the hotel in a film.

Might see if I can find this book Manhattan Hotels: 1880-1920 by Jeff Hirsch | Arcadia Publishing Books and try and compare it to closed hotels.

Booom. Think you nailed it! Awesome man! That's definitely the hotel in the pic to my eyes!

Now knowing the real building, may be able to find that photo used!


From what I gather, the Hotel 48Lex that was built next to it, is now blocking the side that can be seen in the postcard and in that last image.

I made some changes of the minibar menu from The Weeping Beech Inn according to this screencap (I don't know if anyone cares):

The prices from the drink section were modified (all the nonvisible prices are guesstimated values), but also removed the one from the Cognac line:

This menu seems to be printed on a thicker paper, then simply laminated with an A5 laminating pouch.

Awesome!

I started searching Alamy for "Lexington Avenue" photos, as I'd hope the hotel exterior was there. But only got a few pages in! Might start again! and will keep an eye out for the skyline photo too.
