1408 Dolphin Hotel Paper Props Thread!

To be honest, I just looked over the crime scene photos again in that journal in the film, and definitely all look like they were production made, bar one.

Would be interesting to see if we could manage to track down some of the stuff. Usually iCollector is a goldmine for past production stuff, so I'm surprised none of it ended up there.

Edit:

Seems an original hotel room folder is on yourprops, with one of the crime scene photos.

Why don't I ever check there first.... site just feels grimy just loading it up that I think I must mentally block it out.

Edit 2: Also

Managed to do 2 more props:

The text under the logo is impossible to decipher from the screencap, so for now I used the one from the mini bar menu (this has the same dimensions as the menu):

The chocolate tablet wrapper was an easy one (this has 70 x 20 mm):

In case you wondered where were the 3 golden plaques used outside of the hotel, here's an image for guidance:

Regarding the paintings in the room, I'm 95% sure that these were painted specifically for the movie, because most of them have at least 2 variants (the ship has also an animated variant):

The paintings are definitely production made. MakeBelieve and I were looking for the paintings, and some sites refer to the foxhunt painting as "The Hunt" by Thomas Blinks. That artist did a load of foxhunt paintings, but nothing that looked like the movie one.

Though on the hunt for the painting, excuse the pun, I did find a painting that looked like it was the "base" for the production used one.

"Run to Earth" by Heywood Hardy.

Found a couple of paintings that looked convincingly like the base of the sailing ship too, but didn't save any. Google Lens was a help searching.

I feel like at this point you two are just toying with me to make too much stuff! LMFAO. I need you two on the hunt for Twilight Zone stuff. Awesome finds. I've been wanting to do the mints.

They look great! I love the back of the key card. I will definitely do that for mine, but will change the font to fit the Dolphin Hotel vibe.
I actually changed the text under the logo on the internal phone list using an existing phone list:

Actually, I bought it from an acrylic supplier (which is where I get all my acrylic stuff). But I think that stores specialized in office supplies should certainly have these holders (several sizes and shapes). I use these holders a lot to display prop text / description (although they are actually for photos)

Sweet. I've been wanting one to make that menu look more presentable. Lol

That was fast. It looks really, really good!

Maybe I'm seeing things, but is the paper dark green and not black? Here's a comparison of both colors:

Regarding the wall paintings:
The pics we have (for the moment) are very low resolution so zooming it results in blurry and pixelated images.
Anyway, I tried a standard A4 print to see how it would look like framed (A3 size would be the ideal but that's impossible for now)

As to the metal signs RafalFett kindly shared I'm still finding the best (and cheapest) way to do it, so it'l take some time.

One way would be to print on a gold metallic vinyl and stick it on a piece of PVC.

Actually there's a slight change on the 14th floor rooms. I found a straight shot of one of the plates from a deleted scene, so I modified the length:

The plates now are 255 x 140 mm:
