I've been looking at the wallpaper patterns in the hallway and the hotel room for the last few weeks. As a wallpaper / painter in teenage summers in youth, wallpaper design is always something I like to admire in productions. People are so lucky these days with some good sites, being able to custom order prints of whatever they'd like. There's a few past clients a couple of decades ago that would wish that that service was available back in the 90s for their holiday home mansions!
By the way, there's a great behind the scenes clip on youtube from 1408, extra shots from the hotel foyer etc. Quality is pretty low, but it's fun seeing certain parts of the script, taking place in other locations.
Edit: Kinda wish I still had that job. We were the main company for one of the biggest hotels in my country. Today, I for sure would have swapped out Room 408 wallpaper for the movie wallpaper if I was still at it
I almost gave up on this, especially that my first try at drawing the grapes was a bit disappointing, but nothing beats a good sleep:
I did the labels from scratch, but I'm not 100% sure regarding the colors, because in most of the scenes the bottle is partially visible and the colors are washed out. The center label should print at 143 x 72 cm, but this is just a guesstimation:
I estimated the diameter of the bottle somewhere around 120 mmm and I based the size of the label accordingly. I just hope I'll find something similar.
I reuploaded the cognac label in post #133 because I think that the bottle has around 100mm diameter and not 120 as I first thought; the dimension was also updated.
I found 2 bottles that are pretty close in shape and dimension to the screen used one, but the lip is made for a screw on cap:
And because I already printed the correct-ish label on glossy vinyl, I had to put it on the whiskey bottle, because its shape is closer to the original:
As I expected, the label on the neck have the wrong shape and size, so after a couple of attempts I think I nailed it:
So far, the neck label is a placeholder until I print it on glossy vinyl. Also, I'll have to find some removable cork to work with this bottle.
It'll be a very difficult task finding the correct bottle (why couldn't they have picked a simpler bottle??)
Bottles with removable cork usually don't have the edge this one has (that's more common on whiskey glass jars)
