1/6 Kaiyodo/Screamin' Boba Fett

Actually there isn't any flash attached, that has been removed. I have done this according to the directions and they clearly show leaving that top bit to the legs as is. Here is a portion of the directions clearly showing to leave this on:

I will be adjusting this myself to obtain a better fit.

On the lower body(4), remove what the instructions are telling you to remove(the darkened area). ON the upper body(2) also remove as the instructions say to(the darkened area). Now all you have to do is slide the upper body onto the lower body and no glue is even needed, as everything snaps into place.

Ahh never mind I just saw your post where you made it work.

No worries, but ty for the advice.

I am just at the point I am test fitting and need to get off my butt and go get some primer.

I am extremely excited about how well this model is coming along :D

I typically use regular 5 minute epoxy in the double barrel clear syringe or plain 'ole super glue, the thick kind.

Man I remember buying this kit after I read about a build that was done in Kitbuilders Magazine. I useed almost all of the ideas from the article except I wanted mine to be an ESB Fett instead. So I had to mod it accordingly. Here's a run down on what I did.

I used marine epoxy to make new side pouches and to fill in any seams.
I cut off the front end of the rifle and replace it with a piece of brass tube and added a 1/6 scale sling I got off a GI Joe figure.
I ditched the cape and replaced it with a handkerchief that I dipped in paint and folded to keep its shape.
Braided new Wookie scalps out of craft string.
Added finishing nails to the boots.
Added guitar string to replace the molded on cable.
Remade the left gauntlet to look more like the ESB Fett.
I had lights working in the chest for about 10 minutes until they shorted out (it was my first time wiring anything)

Your work looks great! I have a question, though, and it is off-topic: Where can I get one of those R2-D2 coffee mugs?!? :) (seriously)

I think that's a Cowboys and Aliens cup your looking at. They were a 7 11 movie promo that still pop up on eBay sometimes.

Edit: I'm such a numbskull. Your talking about the one in avatar hahahaha. I got that at Disneys Hollywood Studios.

Epoxy can get sloppy, and takes time to set.

Use super-glue with the insta-set.

Agreed. Some people say insta-set results in a weaker bond but I ain't buying it (what they say).

You also get a better bond if the parts are warm. You can also rough the joining areas up some with sandpaper to get a better bond.

Once you superglue vinyl, it is darned near permanent.

I will try and find some insta-set this weekend cause I am ready to assemble his backpack and start primering that.

Ok I got his backpack glued and ready for being primered.

Gonna do some more test primering today and hopefully I will get to primer his backpack tomorrow or Tuesday. :)

Will have pics soon....

Callista you could try filling the torso with expanding foam, just make sure the openings are free to allow for the expansion. You wont need much, leave it a day just to be sure the foam as stopped then just trim. I've used this method quite a few times with no probs apart from the first time I did it after the model was built :facepalm,
( I ended up with a pregnant Pinhead )

Thank you for the advice Neo-uk, but as I stated earlier in this thread I have already filled the torso with plaster of paris.

I do plan on the next vinyl model I can work on trying this method as it seems to be very highly recommended :)

UPDATE ON BOBA:

Found out that the primer I had is bad as it never dries on any of the test pieces I have tired it out on so its to the store tomorrow and pick some up. :(
