1/12th Viper - Done!! Final pics...

Re: 1/12th Viper

Doesn't seem to be on their website (I bought it over the summer), but any of those cheap keychain-sized lcd frames will do, I think!

Man that is a brilliant idea, how awesome is that going to look in the cockpit!!! :love

Re: 1/12th Viper

You've piqued a lot of interest with your dradis screen-- rightly so because it's a great idea and it looks awesome!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is curious, so would you mind writing up a "how to" on how you plan on implementing this from start to finish?

Re: 1/12th Viper

I keep getting asked this question here, on other boards, and via PM/email. Please don't take this the wrong way (because I don't mean this to sound snotty), but honestly it's not hard to figure out. Open the thing, load graphics, insert in model as best you can, build "around it".... I can't really offer a recipe for this kind of thing guys - it's more art and a critical eye than it is mindless following of directions. This is partly why I love this kind of thing. Not knocking a project where you recreate a prop or model in such exactingness that would fool an expert, but that's not terribly creative or even fun sometimes - it's just aping someone else's work. Hell, I do it too, and love it - but it's usually basically a jigsaw puzzle, and this kind of mod (adding an LCD screen) is not.

More importantly for me, I'm making a model, not teaching a class, you know? It'd be a TON of extra work to painstakingly do a step by step tutorial.

But I'll take pics and you can follow along, if you can't come up with something yourselves. Again - apologies if this sounds harsh - I'm just trying to be blunt and preserve the enjoyment of this project for myself, with the limited time I have nowadays.

Re: 1/12th Viper

Ryan called me this evening and opened my eyes to how busy the engine bay was becoming. Too much Ma.K. we think ;)

So I went back to the drawing board - Ryan, hope you think it's more appropriate! I keep chopping expensive stuff! :cry

I'll add a few pipes and things in-line that look like they'd fail (so the deck chief can have something to complain about).

Re: 1/12th Viper

Way better my friend, MUCH more with the "look" of the Viper, either MK 1 or Mk 2.

Can't WAIT to see her painted purty white and that detail just barely popping with a nice steel drybrush and some washes . . .

Re: 1/12th Viper

Thanks, truly!! Honestly, as I post pics, you'll be able to see where I'm going (that, and I make it up as I go along). I am pretty inelegant most of the time with these sorts of things... it's usually at the very end when I slap some pretty paint on the surface that it looks cool to me, heh.
