Right, finally finished the sanding, filling and primer of the panels and now added the first layer of detail for the solar panels.......now on to the rest which is clearly going to take an age!!

Right, started the paint job.
Base coat of black sorted, now I will airbrush with Tamiya Rubber Black, flat Aluminnium for the screen, and Tamiya XF-7 (Flat Red) for the first order markings) The internal solar paneling will be done in Tamiya XF-19 Sky grey.
Once all painted I will weather (looking at movie stills there are scuff marks and not as "clean as original trilogy)
I have decided to go with a clear screen as per ILM so you can see all the cockpit detail better from the front, top and back.

Given the time constraints, other projects and size of this thing on my work bench, I simply do not have the ability to complete the accurate rectangles on 24 segments so I am sticking with the mesh that I have added. I am happy with it, this was never going to be movie accurate but at least it's in scale and will make for a nice display piece!

Did the coats of rubber black and flat ally yesterday, and will do the first order markings today as it is now dry.

Black looks a bit lighter in the pics but it's a good colour. Batteries are going so lights are not as bright, and once weathered I will shoot a final coat of satin varnish.

Any updates on this fantastic model? I have just received my Tie Fighter & in the New Year i'll be looking at taking it apart to fit lighting. Speaking of taking it apart, how did you get the screws undone? The screws on my model seem to have a weird bit fitting , i'm not sure I have screw drivers with the correct bit.
