Hi Gang,
WHEW... The Steamfest show at Lowe Mill here in Huntsville was a HUGE success! However... there was more battle damage done to the poor console than all other shows combined. And most of it was done by yours truly... But all is not lost...
We began working the seat pad for the nav chairs
Two layers of 1/2" poplar. These will be sanded smooth and greeblied to match - have faith
Breaking down and getting ready for Steamfest
I had to quickly add filler to the console riser. The created extra space between peoples laps and the horizontal instrument panels
I then finished off the front of the console platform - I'm not fond of the black stain. I'm going to cover it with something else... Or, look into having the platforms (all of them) fab'd from aluminum
Console riser is now filled, sanded and painted
Making even more of a mess

The line to have the MF experience last 4 solid hours...
It was a TOUGH day...
They estimated 4000 people showed up to Saturday's show
Later in the day I was able to get a break
We were parked right next to Mind Gear Labs
The little hands were grabby ALL day. We had to be on constant alert!
There was MUCH discussion of making the quad come to life
BATTLE DAMAGE
While pulling the console out of the car, the Formica caught the carpet and snapped the edge (this was my fault - I have been meaning to fix that area for over a year)
Luckily it's a simple fix
Some super blue & Bondo... good to go
I then accidently snapped this piece... We're going to fabricate these levers out of aluminum
And last but not least... the Speakers popped and many of the soldering connections have come loose - that's going to be expected over time. We're not sure what happened to the speakers but we'll figure it out.
The Good News! GREEBLIES!
These rotary actuators arrived! These will dress the sides of the nav chairs
Loved that used look!
These arrived the next day
MY FAVORITE! Darth Chromer sent these greeblies to me! Check out these throttle levers - I don't want to take them out of the package
Gorgeous!
He included these awesome Volvo Dash Clusters
Resin copies of the levers
The cockpit door electronics! There is also a plug included! I'll get a vid of the magic later
Darth Chromer - THANK YOU, MY FRIEND! What else can I say...
In all... not a bad few weeks... We'll sort out the battle damage and get the wiring fixed. Steamfest was a blast and thanks to Mike, Jessie, Philip, Tony, Doug and Rob for all your help and continued support!
