1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Utterly amazing! It looks and FEELS like the Falcon, now!

Rich

Hi Rich,

Thanks! She's slowly getting there... I wish we had had a more productive Sunday

Loving the new cockpit chair/s :)

Hi C,

Me too! :) Thank god for the CNC and the laser cutter. It makes cutting so much easier... except for this Sunday

- - - Updated - - -

I was wondering how you'd do those chairs...

Hey Y,

The overall design came fairly quickly. Mike and I sat for a little while wondering how to brace the area between the seat and the back support. Let's hope we got it right. ;)

Awesome. VERY happy to see the Nav Chairs come into the picture. Wish I could've helped!! You folks are amazing

Hi C,

Thanks! Would have LOVED your help. I'm really excited to finally see those two chairs filling that empty space. Mike and I were chatting and we both agree the upper cowls are the most important and most recognizable part of those chairs - we're going to take our time on that part of the build then more than likely take a mold so each cowl is exactly the same. We're pumped to get back to work!

Dayeum! That's a cockpit people, an incredibly beautiful kicking ass cockpit...oh, I cannot take it anymore Sofa:eek:cool

LOL! Thank you, my friend! But... if you can't take it anymore... We're going to have to ask you leave through the exits at either the left or right side of the screen or to the rear of the auditorium ;)

looks utterly amazing! did you get the Vickers Viscount reading lights? I may know somewhere that has a load along with the yokes :) let me know

Still blows my mind. Once you get this thing all done you need to figure out a way to have a full blown experience within it. Maybe have it on a platform that shakes like your getting sucked into a tractor beam or your involved in some sort of battle.

I am thinking kinda of like Star Toursish lol. One could dream right?

I have one of the ejection seats used to make the NAV chair. I will say that is looking awesome.

Let me know if you need a dimension or a picture. I was able to find the correct hoses to make everything, so let me know if you need help with that too.

Looking great, guys!! Can't wait to see that nav seat finished!

Hi J,

Thanks! The last few days have been horribly frustrating but we're getting there. :)

Great progress, I love the high resolution pictures! :)

Hi Kev,

Thanks! Philip is doing an amazing job. I've been a very poor photographer's assistant. I keep promising I will bring some black canvas to cover the canopy and I keep forgetting... bad me!

Hi T,

Thank you so much! We thought that exact same thing. Put the cockpit on a HUGE flight sim pad with working yokes and everything. That would be amazing (ly expensive) lol

And YES... we can all dream!

Something like this might be cool as an alternative to the plain black cover.

Hey C,

That's very cool! Definitely gives us options. The black canvas is for photo purposes. Philip needs to drown out ALL surrounding light to get the best shots possible. And as I mentioned above, I've been very negligent in my duties... I HAVE to pick up a black canvas this afternoon

After a week and a half of burst water pipes and flooding here... Woosh! Them photos are a mind blast, really has that authentic feel!! Eases my stress-out like a medicine.

And then the ejection seats!!!

OH MAN! I feel your pain! Had the exact same problem a few months back... Hopefully life is getting back to normal for ya? Hang in there...

The nav chairs are really going to tie everything together. I'm really excited to get them finished! OH... we'll be pumping out quite a few of them - 4-6 chairs

Can't wait to see those NAV chairs done! I'd be interested in patterns and specs to create my own nav chair, if you were willing to offer such info, once they're finished. :D

Sofa King,

First off, this project is beyond awesome. :) I mentioned a few pages back about a cockpit gun, and if it's been addressed since then, my apologies...it took me forever to get off my lazy butt and get a screenshot of what I was talking about. But this is the scene from Ep.4 where our heroes in the MF comes out of hyperspace to find Alderaan destroyed, and confronts the two TIE Fighters, which lead them to the DS's tractor beam...

Any information or details out there about this gun? It's bugged me for years that I can't find any pictures/technical information on it, nor is it on the blueprints or any external shot that I can find.

Everytime I think the cockpit can't get better, it does! Love the pics.

Keep the progress updates coming, you're my daily "fix"

Hey Solo,

You and me both! I've been chatting with Stinson and he's remodeling the upper cowl (head rest). Mike and I chatted and we think it might be best to create a Pepakura model of the cowl. If all goes well we will be able to make molds and knockout several at a time.

Hi K,

Thanks so much! If I understand what you're saying... The blast you see is from the single tie fighter coming up from behind them. Han is yanking control levers mounted to the canopy boxes. I don't think there were any cockpit mounted guns? I might be totally wrong!

Anybody?

Hi E,

Thanks for the kind words! We're doing out best! Let's hope for some forward progress over the next few days!

No, that's coming from a gun that you see at the top of the cockpit (on the outside, of course). Sorry, I don't have a way to get the video clip to the site at the moment that I made from my phone. It's at the 1:03:48 mark of the DVD. :)

EDIT: If you're interested in it, I can text or e-mail the clip to you from my phone.

How about the yokes? There's a museum nearby me where the vickers aviation company was based they've several viscounts and a bucket load of parts :)
