1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

How about some of those LCD photo key rings. You can load pictures and it cycles through them. I bet they're a lot cheaper than the other options.

For my computer display in my TARDIS console I intend to use one of those medium size Digital picture frames. It will basically run a custom screen saver of "TARDIS like" graphics. It's a lot cheaper and more practical than a full fledged computer. Just a thought.
The raspberry pi costs around $55... but yeah that picure frame thing is probably the better option.

It's looking amazing!

Thanks for the kind words, JdeCaux!

Rock on, King!

The Amp was plugged in! :)

Looks great!! Can't wait to see more in due course...

Hi K,

Thanks much! It's nice getting those panels done and more color around the console...

Your stuff always looks good. What are the square "buttons" made out of? Are they glass tiles? Did you have to modify them to get them to be "colors"?

Thanks DJ! The square buttons are rubber picture frame bumpers that stick to the back of any frame to keep it from scratching the wall. I found a ebay seller who sold them by the boatload. I then used platic paint then glued each one in place. They come in various shapes and sizes. :) I think they work perfectly.

So what do you plan on doing with this when your done?

Hi 350,

The plan right now is use this cockpit and quad laser as promotional pieces that will be displayed at various conventions. People/fans will have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and have their photos taken. After that... I really have no idea... I thought it would be a great side piece sitting next to the actual full scale falcon for the same purpose. :)

With every post it keeps getting better and better!

Thank you, my friend! You guys are always too kind!

Hi R,

Thanks so much!

This is getting interesting!

Hey Stormy!

You are correct! I'm getting to point where I have to start seriously looking at the canopy and the door... it's getting VERY interesting. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I don't think JJ A will reimagine the MF. That would be suicide! I think several other ships might be redesigned. I would LOVE to see the Ralph Mcquarrie concept XWing become a reality!

I would say the redesigning of the MF is a given, guys. It means putting more people to work and also selling new model kits. ($$)

For once I would like them to just leave something alone. Like in every Star Trek movie we see new uniforms and a new Bridge. Each movie I expected but never got a sense of "familiarity". It's always, "Where the hell are we now??"

Anyways, console looks great, SofaKing.

I would argue that in this case, although there will be some modernization the MF will look basically the same. Bringing the original cast back after 30 years needs the continuity and I don't think JJ is the type to not understand that.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Maybe the MF won't appear at all. Or maybe in the past 30 years Han Solo will have ditched the old MF for a new shiny JJ one that doesn't even need to pretend to be the old one, with more speed stripes and lens flares than you can shake your fist vigorously at.

I was just being mean, guys. I'm sorry. :lol

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

It will be interesting to see how they handle things (they, as in Disney, and Kathleen Kennedy). I'm sure that Disney understands the popularity of the Falcon, and will be pushing Lucasfilm hard to make sure it's in at least Episode 7. Disney probably has grand plans on making a Falcon ride, or tour, or something of that nature I am sure. They will probably milk it for all it's worth to generate interest in their upcoming theme park attraction(s), from Episode 7, to the stand-alone young Han Solo film. Now, for Episodes 8 & 9, God only knows, since Harrison Ford will be 80 by Ep. 9 (and John Williams will be in his early 90's ~ yikes!!), but I will totally get it if they want to bring back the old gang and the Falcon for at least number 7, due to the movie and theme park tie-ins. Plus, I think lots of fans will be royally pissed-off if they don't.

As a real fan of the OT, i was pissed off when they released episode I, but this an other story.

Thanks so much! I'm "hoping" (I say that too frequently) to have the last of the main panels finished by the end of this weekend. And if I'm lucky - the door frame! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

My mind was wandering... as it usually does... and another great large scale prop that could be displayed along side the full scale MF (space and elements permitting) would be a full scale replica of both quad lasers with tube. The real thing wouldn't be possible but a horizontal version could be fun!

Two people could basically sit across from each other and reenact the famous scene from "Family Guy"!

Well, Han needs to anchor his umbrella to something during those meteor showers.

awesome.

as far as that gauge deal-io on the previous page... if you have a habitat for humanity, or some sort of used housing development surplus store that is were i would look for a gauge like that in the outdoor electronics section of these stores, look spicifically for used models of energy meters or gas usage meters. hope that helps or at least gets a few gears rolling around in your crazy 1:1 brain of yours:cool

love this project!
