1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

The mystery greeblie used on the throttle housing, medical droid, snowspeeder, Xwing, etc... It's a great site! I love it!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

a 1:1 build of this nice! looks great but very complicated!

Hi K,

Thanks! Yes... There were several angles that confused me. The side panels have especially frustrating. But... thats all part of the fun!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

So I'm wandering through WalMart yesterday getting the weekly essentials - food, TP, milk, etc. It was WalMart where I found the inexpensive toggle switches. Every week I clean WalMart out of those particular switches. I then have to wait another week for them to restock the shelf.

As I grabbed the 12 switches, the department manager walked up and said "You're the guy who keeps cleaning me out of all the switches... what the heck are you building?"

It was a good laugh and he was amazed at the project!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I have been picking up two or three switches for my TARDIS Console when I go grociery shopping at Walmart for years. Now that I'm building the console it looks like I may have bought too many... like a lot too many. Isn't Walmart amazing!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

As much as I hate to admit it... yeah... they really do have almost everything...

Tardis Console? Do you have pics? Would love to see it!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Not to hijack your thread, but yes I'm building a TARDIS console. It's still in process. When it's done I plan to create a thread. To be honest work like your kind of intimidates me.

By the way, I may be able to donate unused switches if you can give them a good home. I mean, if you even need them.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi J,

PLEASE... Do not be intimidated by my build... half the time I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just winging it! :) But I would suggest posting images of the Tardis build now. We would love to see them!

Thank you very much for the kind offer! We can definately find uses for more switches! The cockpit alone has almost 500 (Don't tell Canobi, he's casting 256,298 switches ;)). The gunner stations have a few hundred and then the numerous panels and nav computer all add up... Thank you!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hotwire,

These are the two switches I have. I'm actually getting rid of these - if you're interested, let me know, we can work out a price

Pico 5540pt Blk On-Off Spst Toggle Sw - Amazon.com

I've switched to these because the neck is longer and screws into the MDF

Pico 5541A 12 Volt 16 Amp Momentary On-Off Toggle Switch 1" Black Handle SPST 25 Per Package : Amazon.com : Automotive

Let me know if you want to work a deal for the switches :)

Did you ask him to order more for you? At some Walmarts getting in good with the department managers can pay off big. Especially when it comes to special orders.

I did ask him and he wasn't very receptive... I wasn't going to push the subject. He did say they would try to stock more. It started at only 4, then 8 now 12. So... :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Ahh some people are like that. They want the automatic system to do their jobs. The lady that runs the automotive dept at my local walmart is willing to do an order over ride for me if I ask her. I needed a bunch of terminal ends for deep cycle batteries for my solar setup's batteries and she over rode the order so instead of 4 coming in I was able to get all 18 I needed.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

It's been a slow day for updates but I have got some important things done. Hans side seems to finally be all set. I can now begin to gets the holes cut, paint and pinstriping.

I'm now starting to rework the side walls. Not only did they shift when I applied the MDF skin, but after having chatted with Starkiller, the angle was off by 2 degrees. So they would have had to be recreated in the first place - which is making me a little nervous re: the two upper side wall panels... but we'll see when we get there.

I screwed in all the switches I had... They didn't fill up one panel! LOL (I did purchase 50 other switches but they were the wrong kind and didn't fit)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I would talk to the Manager and see about a bulk order, you could probably buy a case for a hellva deal.
