1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

wow, you go on vacation around here and things just get out of control!!!!!! Great progress man, the detail is looking fantastic.

My vote on the lever is left. it's harder to identify the parts, so it feels better. However, I agree with kysupernatural, which ever is the more screen accurate would be my choice.

Thanks! I looked at those antenna mounts for a while trying to figure out the best configuration. But then I had to think about mounting as well and the right seemed better and a cleaner option - it turned out really nice. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

So much detail and work goes into this it's mind boggling. This is getting better and better by the post :thumbsup

Awesome work :love

Hi Ki,

Thanks for the kind words. Just wait until I get moving with the LEDs. That's when things will really get moving. The only other part of the console that has me stumped in the throttle housing. I just dont know whether to use the throttle assembly I have or go for a more screen authentic version - which is difficult to identify and figure out.

Stay Tuned! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Any possibility of this being at CVI? If you answered this already sorry...

Hi C,

I must be a noob... what is CVI (please dont rip on me)? LOL

I wouldnt have a problem showing the console, but I'd rather have it finished before any "official" unveiling.

Remember, I still have to add LEDs, blue screen (starcharts), knobs, throttle housing, levers, toggle switches, etc... You know, just a little bit of work to do. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

CVI is Star Wars Celebration 6. In Orlando ( again ) August 23-26 2012. I'll assume you knew and just didnt recognize the abbreviation. If for some reason you havent been to a Celebration, they are filled with everything SW and usually many life size props. At CV there was a full scale wearable TaunTaun, a full scale TIE Interceptor, and an AT-AT that wasnt full scale but was still big and done well. The TIE Interceptor and maybe the AT-AT were done by the Belgian garrison of the 501st. A full scale MF cockpit would be a great addition to CVI, shipping to Orlando though, ????. But if they can ship a TIE from Belgium I'm sure you can get this to Orlando....

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi CLW,

That's what I figured but you are correct, I didn't recognize the "CVI". It would be cool to bring the console to the Celebration but as I mentioned, it is far from finished and there are no seats or surrounding walls... so, IMO, it would look kinda silly just sitting all by itself with no backdrop. I hope that makes sense?

Although... that does lend to the idea that maybe we should all get together and create a "portable" MF cockpit just for these types of events? It could be built just like the original prop but the outside could be skinned to reflect the original? Just an idea.

This console is slated for one of two things... either it will be used for Chris Lee's full scale MF as a static display or be used as the lighting testbed then a fully interactive console will be built...

But I do think a portable MF cockpit for these types of shows is a really good idea. I would be more than happy to tackle such a project but there is NO WAY I could do it all by myself - especially having dedicated myself to Chris Lee's MF.

If there is anybody who would like to discuss creating a full scale portable cockpit - drop me a PM and let's talk! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

True, only 50 days left before CVI, goes by fast. There wont be another Celebration for at least 2-3 years. Depending on how much could be done, maybe a backdrop of the interior rear, side, or front could be made to assist with the "scene", something like this:

501st Legion Headquarters :: Log in

As stated in this topic you have to contact LFL first, and they may not even give you the screen shot you want, but I have a feeling if you could pull this off by CVI they would probably listen. I dont even know if there is room for more props so close to CVI, but the OCC is a HUGE venue so my guess is there is plenty. One of our local guys, "Skaught" is building a Trash compactor, his progress can be seen here:

Hey it's easy for me to suggest anything, you're the one doing the work :lol

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi C,

I think a VERY quick static display could be created in time but it would be VERY simple... The back wall, that indludes the door, ceiling, and the side panels could easily be created with pin striping and glass mosaic tiles and a few other greeblies but it wouldn't be anything spectacular.

Again, I could do it, but I would need some serious funding help. :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Ive been watching this from the start and have to say that its just a really wonderful thing your doing.:)

Mr. Webber,

Thank you very much for the very kind words. Very humbling indeed. :)

"and be sure to change the power coupling..." :lol Looking better and better every day.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Well of course I'm going to change the power coupling... ;)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Drilled the holes for the blue lights in the front panel greeblie

I first found the center of the square then drilled each hole
IMAG0098.jpg

Made sure all the lights fit

IMAG0100.jpg

Once those holes were drilled I then taped the greeblie to the console and tapped the drill mark
IMAG0102.jpg

I then created a mess
IMAG0104.jpg

Mounted in place... Just need to sand, primer, paint and greeblie and pin stripes

From the bottom - I'll have to hot glue the lights in place. I wont be able to thread the nut to the bolt...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

After looking at those pics, I'm definately going to make the front PVC pipes thinner.

Does anybody have ANY idea what they used for the tips of the cannons?

Hi G

How about using one of these and make a fibreglass body/shell to go over it for the cannon tips? It's an eBay find, I'll post the link if you want.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey C,

I've been looking at Y-Pipes as well - the one you found is the BEST yet. Please post the link!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Started to create the new "pipe" connectors on the quad.

Cut the MDF to shape and then cut hole to screw the PVC through
IMAG0110.jpg

I'll then build the surround the same way I built the console back boxes

Back to work!
