It's just so amazing, I can't wait to see the final piece, fantastic work.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey king, what brand of silver paint are you using?

Hey Fuzz,

Just a simple can of Valspar Chrome. I love the stuff! It create a great effect! The only problem is that you can't spray ANY clear over top or you'll lose the chrome effect - which really sucks! Unless I just got a bad batch?

How's the room coming?

It's really good stuff! But it's really more for decor purposes and not to be handled regularly. I just wish the clear wouldn't ruin the chrome effect.

The more layers you spray the better chrome effect you get.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I have been following this build from day 1 and I love it. I was wondering if you had planned on making casts of any of the parts you have acquired/built? Back up pieces in the event of damage would be a good idea, not to mention that some of the people on this forum would love to get their hands on some of these. :)

Hi D,

Thanks so much for the kind words. :)

To be honest... I never gave making casts/copies of anything much thought! :) This is the first time this topic has ever come up. Every part used has been purchased at the local home improvement stores, art supply stores, or various parts found on the net - minus anything I've built using wood - frame, back boxes, etc... Should anything break I guess it is a good idea to have a backup, but most of the parts are readily available.

What parts, if any, were you interested in? I might be able to point you in the right direction. :)

Thanks again!

Painted the quad a white primer

Purchased some new PVC reducers and connectors - these work/fit perfectly

I have GOT to build the mount and a WAY to mount this for display. Any ideas?

More to come!

Hey C,

LOL! Thanks much... I'm trying!

That's good stuff! That will work really well on one of the cockpit side panels! :)

Speaking of which... I sent out the toggles this morning. :)

The yokes and matte box are mostly what I was thinking about. I myself don't have room to make anything like this. Those quads would help in traffic during rush hour if they were on my car though.:lol

LMAO! I thought the exact same thing! How cool would it be to mount to the top the SUV and just drive around as if everything was normal.

The Yoke bodies are nothing more than PVC and (if I remember) the yokes themselves are either Cessna or Piper yokes I found on Ebay. Just go to Ebay Motors, Parts and Accessories and then the Aviation page and type in Yokes. A whole bunch should pop up. I was lucky to find these for under 20 dollars.

The matte box... whew... I agree 100% That would be a cool piece to make copies of. It wasn't a difficult piece to build, just very time consuming. If you dont already know, its actually a Mitchell Camera Matte Box. If you can find them, they are approx 600-1000 dollars and the price continues to go up.

Vintage Mitchell GC High Speed 35mm Camera

I guess if enough people are interested... I can look into making molds of the matte box? If I do, I'll definately make a more accurate looking piece.
