1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I was able to last a little longer today...

The quad bax boxes are almost finished. The high humidity is creating a longer dry time...

CONSOLE UPDATE!!! WELL ITS ABOUT TIME!!! Permanently mounted the "panel light" / door stoppers to the console! Not sure what I was waiting for or what I was thinking?

Measured out and tapped for drill

Began the process of mounting each light

Fantastic! Awesome seeing the progress you're making.

Do you ever feel yourself start 'rushing' to get something done? Or are you managing to keep a cool head and take it easy?

Hi O,

YES!!!! I do find myself, from time to time, rushing a project because I want so badly to see it mocked up or completed. It can be frustrating at times, but the paint, filler and glue keep me in check. You can't rush those items...

In all, I keep cool and I take comfort knowing there is no time frame at all. Most importantly, I'm having so much fun building these projects. Takes the mind off reality for a while. :)

UPDATE / HINT

Spent the morning driving around town looking for items... And I found these... I'm not going to tell you what they're for just yet but be rest assured they are not a towel bar for the MF bathroom! :)

UPDATES

I've sanded all the PVC parts and now I'm starting assembly

Sanded and with a coat of plastic primer
IMAG0153.jpg

I taped the bottom of the 2-1 reducer and then filled with fiberglass resin to harden - you'll see why! :)

Got the quad back boxes filled and primed. More sanding on the way.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

CORRECT! I'm now working on the yokes!!!!

After careful consideration I changed the design to include a 22.5 degree angle elbow pipe - When I first started I didn't take the angle of the panels into consideration. This new elbow pipe actually makes the yokes almost perfectly vertical.

The 2 to 1 inch PVC reducer looked good but it was too wide at the base

Priming the yokes

Adding paint

As you can see, the 22.5 degree elbow makes a huge difference - a bit small, I agree, but I'll dress it up.

Beauty Shot - the new elbow also fits perfectly within the panel pin stripes. I'll also have to add resin to the inside of the elbow pipe (as I did for the previous PVC piece). Once the fiberglass resin hardens I can attach the entire yoke to the instrument console from underneath using screws.

I still have an incredible amount of modding to do on the yokes themselves... But I'm up for it!
