Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Not much of an update... I had to take apart the quad housing to add some filler and adjust a few bad areas. I also added primer/filler to the upper quad pieces... Slowly coming together... or apart - depending on whether your an optimist or pessimist ;)

I just purchased approx 150 prewired / flashing LEDs... Of course it will take 6 months to get here knowing my luck. :)

Incredible picture! (Now tell me how the whole system worked.) ;)

The gun carriage (trunnion?) resembles the hydraulic piston on the MF's loading ramp, but also reminds me of a vaporator.

Incredible picture! (Now tell me how the whole system worked.) ;)

The doohickey forces the thigamajig to go back and forth. When that happens the thingamabob then forces the 4 whatchamacallit's to go in and out. The whole process starts over again so long as the diddlebop doesn't get all whoopyjalled and get stuck...

At least that's how it was explained to me...

Make sense?

I think it's interesting in that we see almost two different nozzles here.. I'm no SW expert, but are the two shots from two different movies?

The bottom picture's nozzles look like they were welded together out of pipes and the seam filled in with lead or they were roughly sculpted over with something. if I had to guess, they look like some sort of exhaust manifold or split exhaust tips (the part that sticks out from under the car) or something

The top picture's look modeled and formed, like proper prop pieces and not slapped together like the bottom ones.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

here are some control light that might work there the ones used for B9 robot

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

What metrosonus said. They remind me of the twin exhaust pipes on a Kawasaki Z1000. I looked around and at least learned the proper name (merge collector), but the MF ones look much flatter. Maybe some British WW2 bomber engine exhaust part?

Oh, by the way, I guess the footage is available on the Blu-ray set, which I don't own, but "The War of the Stars Part II" fan edit features footage of rebels running through the Falcon and manning the guns during the DSII battle, which was pretty surreal, and makes me marvel that they actually reconstructed the gun port for ROTJ (and then omitted all the footage, thankfully).

...stand by...

metrosonus, I think you're correct about these being shots from different movies. I believe the top shot is from SW and the bottom is from ROTJ. Also look at what's in the lower right corner:

Hey MFP,

I've been online looking for correct size Y-Pipes but they're all 20-60 dollars a piece. Multiply that by 8 and it's getting expensive.

I'm going to attempt to fabricate the tips using MDF and LOTS of sanding. I dont think it will be too difficult. Mostly...

Hey R,

I feel your pain... It supposed to be 104 today, 102 tomorrow and then cool down to a bone chilling 98 on Sunday. Hopefully, with enough fluids and will power, I can march forward and get something done...

If I had the LEDs and knowhow I could stay inside and wire up the console! :)

GREEBLIE UPDATE

I found 2 plastic marine antenna mounts for 6 bucks, found 2 old starter knobs, added some old vintage radio knobs and temporarily came up with this. What do you guys think?

How cool is it that the shades are casting sunlight on the instrument panel that shows a very similar design feature from the Death Star! :)
