That is the way I would tackle it. Just make a grid structure of aluminum then bolt the plywood to it. Definitely lighter than wood studs and square tubing would be very strong.
LOVE the homemade Segway!! ...and great pics as usual! Love following your progress and seeing where it takes you.
Super photos, them ESB panels slot in seamlessly!
Indeed, that wood must be very heavy (MDF is a back killer for sure)...as for the sound, I think that the best place for speakers and such could be hidden in the main pilot unit, that way, your panels will be untouched. Hang in there, while there's a lot of work left to be done, it'll be over one day soon.
Btw, seeing those yokes on the main pilot unit made my heart skip a beat...or two![]()
Thanks so much! My Ex wasn't really into the whole Sci-Fi thing either. She thought what I was doing was cool but didn't understand it at all. Do you have the link to the article? Would love to see it!
I continue to be blown away by the special form of madness that drives your quest for perfection on this amazing project. They would have hauled me away to the funny farm a long time ago! I hope, that when you complete this project, you consider contacting the Sci Fi Museum in Seattle, Washington. I know they exibit "on loan" pieces like yours and pay for crating and transportation. It would probably give you a paid vacation since you would have to supervise assembly. When they showed the BSG full size Viper recently, they even had to remove part of a wall to get it inside the building! The museum was opened by billionaire Paul Allen. I think he secretly just ran out of room for his own collection of props. Ha, ha. Anyway , beautiful work on this incredible project.
Fantastic stuff this vid:cool, it really comes alive and kicks ***** for sure. As for the seats; are you going to cover them with the same type of fabric as in the movie?
Stunning work man. :thumbsup
