1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

This is a such an amazing piece. I can't wait to see it fully assembled again.

It's something I could sit and stare at for hours. Nice job! (as always, of course)!

Thank you very much! I thought the primer/paint stage was NEVER going to get here. I was really surprised how well the primer settled on the quad body. I hope I have the same luck with the actual color. :) Wait... are we talking about the quad or the cockpit? :unsure

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I've been pouring over all the primered quad photos and I am looking on how to further detail the quad (prior to weathering) without going overboard. I think I'm going to pinstripe a few key areas that lack any details but wanted to get your opinions before I move forward.

These are the key areas I think would benefit from pinstripes and other minor details such as small round chrome bits...

The lower rear side panels could use a little pick me up

The upper boxes - both front and tops

And the top detail that sits between the barrels

Anywho, that's the plan... Opinions?

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I'm thinking some red pin stripes would look great, especially after weathering :thumbsup

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

As Solo did care if the Falcon looked like "a piece of junk" I can't see him putting "go faster stripes" on the weapons, plus I've never seen pin stripping on any of the guns I've ever seen and I've seen a lot! Why not make up some warning signs, symbols or manufacturers marks in that galaxy far, far way type face.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

What about gray electric wiring, glued down? Make some "L" shapes here and there. Or...

Or there is this stuff. I have used it before. It is automotive trim and it comes on a 20-foot roll. Sand the chrome coating off it. Then stick it down and paint it gray. The shape lends some interest, because it can look like a wire or a divider of some sort. I like to cut the adhesive foam off the back and glue it down permanently. Unlike using wood trim, this stuff is quite flexible and can adhere to odd surfaces. If you have a curve, it can follow it. It also looks pretty good if you cut the ends at an angle. It cuts with scissors or an x-acto knife.

Hi King,

They wouldn't be pinstripes like the cockpit panels - more accent stripes similar to the cockpit console backboxes I created. I have an idea bouncing around my head. I'm going to test it and see how it looks...

The warning signs and symbols sounds like a GREAT idea. I was thinking of many red or black triangles on the barrels and few other misc shapes. GOOD CALL! Thanks for the idea! :)

Hey DJ,

This is some VERY interesting stuff... It could really add to the little details. I'm going to make another greeblie run tomorrow morning (day off) and I will definately look for the this stuff! Thanks!

Just what I was thinking. Warning signs in aurebesh, serial numbers, etc. would subtly add to the realism.

Agreed! As I mentioned, I was thinking of adding small red triangles to the barrels (pointing to the front of the barrel) near the center - as if it's a warning label and then a few other symbols randomly placed.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

I have the day off and was hoping to get an early start on the paint but had to help out a friend... It's now 100+ with 90% humidity and rain showers are threatening... ugh... But, I did add a few more greeblies to the quad body and found an old pool cleaner hose I'm going to add to the front of the quad body. I have to mount the barrels first to see if they will fit...

Used the old LED Christmas light battery case as a greeblie

This pool hose will mount to the upper box, extend toward the front then curve back toward the back next to the lower barrel - But I might have to remove the greeblie I added earlier

Can't wait for color! I'm going to go over the entire quad one more VERY light coat of primer - VERY light

More to Come!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Absolutely fantastic. I think I'd have it set up in the driveway and be shooting at trees making pow pow noises.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I'm envious! Stunning to see how far you've come and the details and quality, keep it up! :)

Really looking forward to see this done.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I see you targeted your neighbor's house. I think he can't repel fire of that magnitude :)
