Finaly at the end of this thread, for now i hope. Because i would love to see much more of this impressive build. You have inspired me to get my stuff out of a box and start making cool things again! Starting with a hasbro cloontrooper helmet conversion. I'm thinking about scratchbuilding a jedi training ball and to be honoust, if i had the room.. i would love to build me my own cockpit! :)

Keep up the excellent work, i'll be following this closely.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Well... I dove in and poured a little fiberglass resin into the hollowed out throttle greeblies... so far so good... As it was setting up I gently picked off the over spill...

Stay Tuned!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Nice!

Good choice on the filler. Different types of clay can react with silicone and mess up your molds. You should be fine!

:)

You must use sulfur-free clay , for example STAEDTLER Noris Club Plastilin

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Spent the morning sanding down the platforms. I might add another coat of stain/poly but I don't think it necessary... It looks pretty good. Still need to figure our how to attach the two together - even if temporary. I need them to be bolted together so I can start the front window/canopy. The lawn guys are here so I had to close up the garage...

In the meantime, here are pics of the toggle switch. As I mentioned... 3M does not have them on their site, WalMart did not have them on their site... I searched Google, Bing, and Ebay with no luck... Could I have dug deeper... probably... :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

LOTS OF GOOD STUFF!!!! After sanding the platforms down to a smooth dull finish I bolted everything together! Quickly finding out the garage wasn't exactly level, I used a few shims and away I went...

Getting everything lined up...

Taking LOTS of measurements!

Hans side bolted down - this was quite a task. I had to make sure the platforms were level (enter the shims). Then I had to bolt the front side panels to the back side panels. Since I couldn't drill a hole into the side panels lower 1x4 (the angle was too great) I had to mark the holes, unbolt everything, drill the holes, bolt it back together, mark the holes to drill into the platform, unbolt everything again, drill the holes then PRAY everything bolted back together... WHEW... Then I had to do it ALL over again on Chewie's side...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Very cool! Now here's the million dollar question...

What does it sound like when you walk on it? Like hollow wooden floor?

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

i love the idea that the Millenium Falcon comes with a "warranty and installation instructions" (as seen on the outside of the panels :D

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

After this panel I'm going to get started on the center console platform... Lots to do!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

My thumb and forefinger ache just looking all those! Keep on threading, my friend!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Nice! Make sure one of them starts the engine, one makes the jump to hyperspace, and one turns on the radio.

LOL Mine too - I actually have two blisters... grrrr....

BUT!!! Console platform is 90% complete... makes me wonder why I used all that stain on the platform underneath? :)

Once the frame was built I added the ply and then cut to shape

I'll add more supports once I figure out where the seats will go

All cut and installed! Still a little sanding and trim work to do to make everything snug - but a pretty close fit

Still have to fix those gaps

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

be honest: how much time did you lose, after you installed all those switches, "cutting the sub-light engines"?

every time I say keep up the good work, you do it. So I'll say it again. Keep up the good work, man!
