1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Great progress! I still love that you didn't label panels left and right, but instead Han and Chew :lol

Thanks! Just wish the rain would stop during the weekends... When I was kid, instead of learning my "Right" and "Left"... I learned just "Han" and "Chewie"... made more sense to me. :)

Loving the build. I need you to do this to my RV...you know when your done and want to do it all over again :)

When are those Volvo panels I gave you going on? I've been chomping at the bit to the them attached! Hope the weather clears up for you soon.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hey D,

Thanks! An RV huh? You know I always thought it would be fun to redesign the interior of an RV. Turning it into a MF style ship - that would be fun! :) How soon would you need it finished? ;)

Chris Lee has the Volvo panels. I'm not sure if he'll install them to this build or the second cockpit. I don't see why we couldn't temporarily mount them. It would be VERY cool to see them in place! :)

If it's an RV you've got, I think you should be looking at doing something more like this:

Haha, yes. my friends want me to do this as well to it. Unfortunately those wings would get in the way of, well...everything :lol I was thinking chopping the front off and fabing a falcon cockpit. Not only would it look like one of the most awesome RV's ever made;), but I can drive it in a snow flurry and it will look like light speed. driving-in-snow.jpg SofaKing would have to remodel the interior for me:D

Sorry for the derail.

LOL! That would be AWESOME! Nevermind the freezing temps and iced over roads... we're in hyperspace! :)

OK... send me some interior pics... :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Those are GREAT pics. There were several I hadn't seen before - thanks for posting :)

I'm surprised by the large number of never-before-seen pics coming out as of late, after decades of seeing the same ones over and over...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I really wish folks had taken more detailed images of the MF and XWing... awe heck EVERYTHING! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Sorry there hasn't been much movement on the build. There has been so much rain over the past month it made it tough to get anything done. Yesterday was the first day I was able to get out and work. I spent some time building the second platform. It's about 70%. I'm hoping to have everything finished up by this afternoon. Pics to come!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi Gang,

Just a quick update! A few switches showed up... just a few...

Sorry for the lack of updates... A lot going on...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Believe it or not... I had to special order them through WalMart. I couldn't find these particular switches anywhere else on the web - WalMart didn't even have them on their website. At first I thought they were a PICO switch but couldn't find this particular switch on the PICO site. And despite being packaged through 3M, the 3M website didn't have them available as well. So... I just did a special order through WalMart - in the store. It was very frustrating.

I know that doesn't help at all....

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hope they gave you some kind of bulk discount.

I hate to even think what that purchase even cost you.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

It was the biggest single expense so far... And WalMart was nice enough to give me 10% off. I still don't know how or why I can't find them any place else... very odd... But I do have to wait a few weeks to build the account back up before anymore major purchases... The best part of the switches... I get to unscrew all 250+ switches and paint the panel ring silver... 250+ rings... It will be SO worth it once they are all in place! :)

Saturday I will finish off the extension/console platform(s), sand down and then lay several coats of black stain. It doesn't make ANY sense to use paint at all - the platforms will be walked on, kicked, bumped, etc... You know... have that used beat up look! :)

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

i get my switches through auto stores, can sometimes get a deal in bulk. also a place state side called Crescent Electric Supply Co, used to work for them, for a month until i got what i needed with the employee discount ;) not sure if they have a web site but they do ship to individuals.
