I hope I did this piece justice. This is the sculpt that Bobby C. recently finished. Take a close look at the suit, i airbrushed a diamond pattern on it, it's not 100 percent accurate, but the closest thing I could find to use as a stencil was a bondo repair kit mesh. I sculpted the base for this guy out of balsa foam, same stuff as the Indiana Jones base.

More great finishing work Steve!

I love how your mixing media nowadays - cloth cape, custom base and green crystal are fine touches my friend. Great stuff! :thumbsup

Hello Steve

Looks great man, what a great display idea. Your skills have improved alot I must say.
The customer will be a happy guy.
Did you paint the eyes or are they prosthetic?
You see, there is only one thing that you could do to improve his likeness.
By making the eyes straight. They look a bit strange as they don´t look at the same spot.

If you changed that, he will look very nice. Also I would make the eyes a little bit more to the blue/green
as he had pretty strong eye contact lenses. Other than that, very nice work my friend.:thumbsup

This is what I did in photoshop with one of your pictures.

I know the client is happy with it, cause it's me! This is another one I did for myself. :) Yeah not sure if I can pop those eyes out now that they are epoxied in..might break it. They are glass eyes, but I see what you are saying. Lining these damn things up perfect have always been a pain in the neck.

I realize what I did, if you look at the corner of the eyes where the pink area is, I did not trim the one side far enough in. The eyes are centered but the pink corner should have been taken in some on the right side. Maybe I can go in and trim it a bit now. The far sides of the eyes look even (where the white part is)

Steve, you've struck again!

man, that texture on that suit is flippin' awesome...great idea

you are doing some killer 1:1 work right now...anyone interested in getting a paintup should give you a call...great communication, easy to work with and all at a fair price

keep up the great work!

Wow, even the little tiny superman symbols all over the big symbol are correct! Kudos to your attention to every detail! Now all you need is Lex Luthor! :thumbsup

Steve, first - great bust; fantastic skin tones. I think your skin tones are a definite trademark strong point!

Regarding the eyes, try Aves Epoxy-sculpt. It forms a VERY tacky, clay-like substance that allow nearly a 3-hour work time. Unlike standard two-part epoxie, it is not runny.

With the extended work time you can set the eyes, tweak and adjust them for a long time. You can walk awaay and clense your mind, then come back to re-examine. You can look at them in a different setting under different lighting. You can photograph them and study the photos (ALWAYS and eye-opening and surprising experience seeing what you just don't seem to see in person).

And then you'll STILL have another hour or so before it finally sets!
