TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *SHREDDER*

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

They are all great!
Mikey's personality is really shining in the group picture.

Out of all of them I am loving the Donatello!
Witch is odd because I have always been a Raphael guy.

Donatello is my favorite too, he looks mean!

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

Any head to toe shots, so we can see the whole costume being worn?
Thanks

There is of Mikey buried in the pages somewhere. As for the rest of the crew I hope to have them finished by the first of October if not earlier.

Re: 2012 TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me out with the hands. I'm new with clay and stuff, so.. I don't really know how to do it. But, I was wondering if you could guide me and help make the hands. Like just stop at the wrist for gloves. I know how to life cast it, with the two fingers connected one side and the other too. But, after that what do I do? How do I make it into latex? I really want to make it by Halloween. Please Please help!

Re: 2012 TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt

Hi, bluelightning! He did not use latex for this costume. He molded his sculpts with smooth-on's rebound silicon, and he casted them in Smooth-on Dragon skin silicon.

If you want to make it out of latex I would recommend a two part stone mold.

The problem is I dont think you have enough time to sculpt and mold an entire costume for Halloween like the ones you see here. What I would suggest is fabricating/making the costumes in upholstery foam and coating them in latex. It is a much faster. There a few threads on the RPF of people who have done so in the past.
Here are some links.

Just keep in mind when it comes to sculpting clay, or carving upholstery you end up with what ever your artistic skills can get you .
I hope this all helps.

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

Thanks again AP for answering questions when I fail to do so!
I finally got the silicone solvent I needed to finish painting the last pair of legs!
I have all the pads back from the seamstress just need to add the eyelets and stringing.
Just ordered all the weapons I needed from a martial arts store. (Everything I ordered was the wooden training version for safety reasons)

So the only thing that will take a few days to do that is left is to fabricate the belts and shoulder straps that each turtle wears.
If anybody has a good screen shot of the Don or Leo with how there weapons are held on to there backs with the shoulder strap it would be nice. If not I will just wing something that looks good.

Thanks for any help RPF'ers and turtle fans!
Cowabunga!

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

EVERYTHING IS PAINTED!!!
WEAPONS should be here Wednesday.

Maybe I should go ahead and build the mannequins for the group photo?!?

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

Update:
All weapons accounted for! Just need to paint them accordingly and add the grips where they need be. If any one has some screen shots it would help.

ALSO

If anyone has a good screen shot of how the katana or bo staff is held to the back shell and the belts that hold them it would be greatly greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

Thanks slime! We'll once you have access please do send any helpful shots of the back belts, straps, and weapons.
Especially Don and Leo bc their straps will hold the weapons!

Re: TMNT Replica Costume Sculpt *Sneak peaks*

Ralph keeps his sai in the front of his belt.

There seems to be a bloted down leather loop on the belt for the sai.

In this picture he is pointing at the loop on his belt for the sai.

Mikey has the same loop on the back side of his shell.

Here is a back shot of Leo.

Mikey actually doesn't have a loop. The nunchuks are tucked between the belt and shell like this:

I'll make a screencap later on Leo's belt if needed...

Doesn't look like anything special for Donnie, just some leather strapping really.
