Brilliant, do it! I've been thinking about the same thing, this would be a great way to make a Jabba if you have the space for it. you could build it with the back open so as to be interactive, make it so punters could walk inside and move the mouth and arms etc. a wooden frame covered in chicken wire and foam rubber then carve all the details straight on. a skin of latex and paper towels and it could look pretty authentic....... another idea is making a half or quarter size Rancor head coming through a "hole" in the wall.
would go great with this guy, http://www.therpf.com/f24/new-gamorrean-guard-build-100957/

ok I'm looking at reference pics and will finish the head soon but for a break from the clay I just pulled the first pair of foot skins out of the mold.

These are made from THICK latex rubber dyed green.

I already have some feet that I made by putting a sock on a foot cast and glueing a foam bootie over that with muscle and toe shapes added so next I'll glue these skins on to the foam and have something pretty decent as far as movement and durability.

this is where it is at now, I will be molding it this weekend.

The eyes are accurate at 40mm, I made them from some acrylic domes with a cut out photo of an iris glued inside then airbrushed the whites from behind. I have some spares if you need.

Amazing work!!!
2 questions.

1.) Where did you get the acrylic domes for the eyes?

2.) On your first head pieces you made, where did you find the thin strips of aluminim? Or did you cut them off of a sheet?

Thanks! :)

GREAT WORK!!!

Thanks.
The domes are made by a good friend who works in a plastic factory, they make a lot of domes for security cameras. I can ask for any size I want and he blow-forms them before leaving work. lucky me. If you need some and are stuck for a supplier maybe I can send you a pair.
The Ali strips were cut by me off a sheet, yep.

So here I am at the point where I've made a couple of rubber masks and painted one. Not sure which brother it most looks like but I only had red fabric on hand till tomorrow.

They are lined with foam and very comfortable to wear with good visibility.

Thanks guys, this has touched a lot of people, even here on RPF. Happy to say those I care most about are all safe and i have got my workshop up and running with all facilities intact. I know the best thing I can do right now is what I do best. (hard when I know friends are rotting in the streets, buried in rubble) I hope to sell all my costumes, props and toys and relocate to a more stable location. I will be finishing this suit 1st so stay tuned for updates and check the junkyard or PM if you want to help by buying part of my collection.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers at this terrible time. your support is invaluable.
