Guardians of the Galaxy (Post-release)

I wasn't surprised by the type of language used in the film, the trailers gave plenty of warning mentioning A Holes & un-uncensored middle finger, I was shocked there wasnt more

J

Thoroughly enjoyed the film. Pretty much every member of the team got to steal the scene at one point or another. Even Michael Rooker...

As for the language, nothing in this one matched Loki's calling Black Widow a "mewling q---" in Avengers.

The language wasn't that bad, like everyone said it's in line of what you would expect form a PG13 film. The violence was cartoony enough that I was comfortable with my daughter seeing it. This was far more appropriate movie that The Winter Soldier. The violence level in the at was well beyond what I would let my kids see. I would rather have my kids hear harsh language than see people mowed down with machine guns any day.

i loved the movie regardless, but i personally think it would have been better with a higher rating and more violence/language.
i mean come on, who wasn't mad not to see Ronan's weapon impaled into a head !

You must have hated The Wolverine.
Not at all, I liked it quite a bit. I never said I disliked or hated Guardians of the Galaxy - not sure why you're making assumptions on what I like based on nitpick with this movie.

:facepalm

I wouldn't say i was shocked there wasn't more, but the trailers etc gave every impression there would be language in it. So it was no surprise at all frankly. I can't speak to other countries, but here, you can utter every word in the book every other word throughout a movie and as long as you don't use the f word, you'll get PG13. You can typically get away with that maybe once or twice before its an automatic R.

Nine out of ten for me. This was the best ensemble space adventure since... well a long time. The only criticism I would have is that is was too SHORT, even at 2+ hours. They could easily have stuffed another 30+ minutes in there without it feeling too long.

I guess I know what props I'll be making over the next few months... (already talking to folks about getting a high-end perfectly accurate Peter Quill Ravager jacket made)... dear oh dear I wonder if I'll be done by the next film, haha.

I loved the Howard end scene too but I missed Fillion (since only his voice cameos during the prison sequence and there's SO much going on in that). My friend and I looked at each other and said "did they REALLY just go there?". I'm going again asap.

I meant from a swearing point of view only, they did drop several f bombs in that one.

in the comics they use an invented space swear quite often, d'ast. it would have been nice to hear but I dunno if most people would have got it

So people getting stabbed through the heart is fine, but someone says dick, and its no longer family friendly?
you don't need a bunch of curse words to make a movie good. Saying dick once is fine. but 20 times is way overused. I don't like people talking like that. It just makes them sound like idiots.

I read somewhere that they had a cut of the movie at 4hrs....that's likely why there are obvious missing parts that are in the trailers

Cant wait to see the deleted scenes!!

I can understand that, but personally speaking, I would rather be called a dick twenty times than be stabbed through the heart once.

That's apples vs oranges. Your perspective is from a rational, humanistic point of view. Hollywood and the MPAA do not live in said reality. It's the same as the violence vs nudity argument. You can have non-stop action with people getting killed on screen and have no problems. Substitute in a love scene with nudity and suddenly it's "oh, this movie is inappropriate for kids and if you let your children watch it, you're a bad parent!!!"

What the frak are you talking about? Is this some gorram joke? Well, shazbot.... I've got to improve my vocabulary.

"Guardians of the Galaxy wound up having a ton of appeal with women: exit polling indicated that the audience was 44 percent female, which is the biggest share ever for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie (the previous high was 40 percent for The Avengers). Meanwhile, the audience was 55 percent over the age of 25."

Interesting.
