Understanding this was originally just a ‘ while waiting for other stuff ‘ project , you’re certainly turning it into something seriously awesome .
Don’t suppose you’ve considered lighting it by any chance ?
The molded parts are fitted to the core flute using hot melt glue inverting every second one and adding one of the short pieces into its length braking up the pattern.
Each parts is about 80mm x 400mm and the short one is 80mm x 150mm.
Next stage is working on the rear engines and lighting them up.
I made a few trips to lighting shops and Bunnings looking for the right shape engine bell for the SD.
I found some pendent lights for $25.00 each from Ikea.
I had to add the clear acrylic tube the lamp to give it the right diameter to the back of the engine bell plus I added some plastic strips for detail.
WOW! I'm loving this! Screen accuracy is one thing but it can be daunting and frustrating when you're trying to locate that last illusive part. The fact that you're going to "have fun" with the overall design and greeblies is even more exciting! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong.

I don't feel bad about having to drill hundreds of holes in my Zeveda SD now.
The area I think you are describing is the outer edge of the SD that covers the side detail? if that is it the answer is yes, both the top and bottom will have greeblies added to this area.
