Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Hi,

Thanks for the help. Yes, I think you are right. They look like small turrets. I'm sure the larger part/s in yellow, they sit on is also from a ship superstructure. I just need to find which of the many ship kits out there it comes from :cry

Hi Michael,

I've sent you a PM. Thanks for your support and I'll say again in the open what a great job you've done with your T47. Like I said before you have put more greeblies on yours than ILM did.

I hope to make mine the definitive T47 in terms of accuracy to the ILM models. I'm also looking to incorporate working airbrakes and turning pilot head. I've designed mechanisms to accomplish this, but time will tell whether is feasible to include them in a kit without making it all too complicated to produce.

Still, aim high as I like to say :)

Hey Nick don't think I can help much with kit bashed parts but I did just pretty much finish a 47. I was concerned with studio scale but not with all the greeblings :D Here is a link to the progession to the build hope you enjoy. Please share with us the building of your 47 Iam going to make another with moving air brakes and power harpoon gun, Iam currently working on another project right now.

Ya I think it would be mad expensive I wanted to run a couple servos with a control board in mine but I didn't start the project with this in mind.I was tempted but I know better, if it's not incorporated from the beginning you can run into trouble :angry You would need no less than at least one servo or two and a control board to operate them, also some kind of AC adapter.Considering MR's is $600.00 and yours going to be bigger and definitive it's going to be mad expensive as a kit alone with no electronics.Trust me though there will be a few people who will step up and want a non-static example of a 47. :D I will make a better one with all the works :D Can't wait to see you get started on yours.....
Regards,
Michael

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

I just wanted to put a post up to let anyone who's interested know that a full studio scale T-47 Snowspeeder is still in the works. I've not been able to touch it for months due to other things, but will aim to keep moving it forward, albeit slowly from now on.

My intentions are still to supply the model with adjustable airbrakes and two pilot figures. It will be 25% bigger than the MR Speeder so its going to be a fairly big model...

Small Pic here shows the Ertl kit for scale ref. Needless to say I'm not using it for build dimensions... I have much better reference than that :) ( have not posted pics here for a while so I hope it works)

I'm going to fast prototype up some componants such as the guns which are all ready to be SLA'd up. More info as it happens, my next area to tackle is the cockpit tub.

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

Just a quick update to show the hull is coming together. You can't see the panels and rivet marks very well here, but they are there...and very accurate.

My plan now is to have the top and bottom hull sections in Fibreglass probably with the airbrake boxes integral to the top section. (However I still hope to have the airflaps moveable) Other parts, including pilots will be in good old resin.

Next phase will be the cockpit interior which will be quite time consuming, but fun! - also when funds permit I will get the guns SLA'd up.

Will update again as soon as I can.

Hi Folks,

Another update on the T47. I did say I was doing the cockpit next, but I changed my mind. I've decided to do the underside instead as its a tricky part of the build that I wanted to know I had nailed.

The small airflow fins that sit under the nose will be added later.

Hope you like it....

I wish I could see these updated photos at work. They block photobucket so I have to stew in my own juices until I get home. :wacko

Re: Echo Station 57, we're on our way....slowly

That is VERY impressive! I agree the size alone makes it awesome as well!

Loving this one, its a bit of a looker for me the Snowspeeder, one of the iconic shapes i always remember going insane for when i was a kid lol.
Wonderful work Nick, and i think i may be in for one, any idea who may be handling kitting/casting her, or are you doing the whole shebang?

Hi Guys,

Glad you like the story so far.
I'm with you there Lee, I've always loved the Speeder from the first moment they all whine and buzz into shot in Empire, then peel off across the mountains. Lovely stuff. - Think I will do the cockpit area next while I finalise any last kit finds.

As far as the moulding, casting and distribution goes I'm going to do the whole thing myself. As we have all seen, when you lose control of a project its very hard to get it back. I shall be the only one responsible for how this turns out, good, bad or indifferent!

I'm not sure how many of these I will shift, but I'll do a batch of 10 and see who comes along. I've noted the interest already shown here which I thank you for. I shall also offer build ups if there are any requests for such. And, needless to say in the current economic climate I will try and keep the unit cost down as much as possible.

Anyway, must go and rummage in my kit box archive again!

Cheers
Nick
