I was upset and confused after seeing it the first time. After going a second, I feel better about it and the emotional stuff with Luke hit me a lot more, and his motives seemed to make more sense. Not sure why it felt better but it did.

That’s good to hear, I’m sure I’ll see it a second time and see if that changes how I feel. That didn’t work for me after The Phantom Menace though!

I've seen it a second time now and I just found more things to be disappointed in.

Someone please explain to me what they were looking to accomplish with the skim speeders at the end, why Rose and Finn didn't just bring the rebel flagship some stupid tank of space-gas, or how the First Order could not have just surrounded the resistance ships?

Well there’s a video compilation of Mark Hamill discussing Luke’s portrayal in both films. It is obvious that he hates how Luke is being portrayed in TLJ. You can tell he knew the story was bad, tried to warn Rian, and admits that’s its no longer about the story but about the films making money. Again, I’m calling it that Mark will formally disown this film when the dust settles.

I watched it a second time... You begin to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the film. I believe what’s so confusing is how utterly disjointed this thing is. From moments that full on remind you of the prequels (fathier running thru canto) to genuinely epic moments (throne room fight sequence) ... It’s confusing the hell out of people. Upon second viewing it overall improves, simply because you accept what your watching (and it’s not going to change).

After watching it though, I have to say I am now EXCITED that J.J. is returning to the helm! What I mean is that it was easier to swallow the things I didn’t like in TFA than the TLJ

I dont pretend to have any insight into what Mark Hamill's personal feelings may have been about this movie, but I think it says a lot that whatever they may have been, he gave one hell of a performance. He could have easily phoned this in like some other people *cough*HarrisonFord*cough*. He committed to the role and to the character's journey 100% and damn if its not all up there on the screen.

Those were some statements out of context and he later amended what he said to more positive terms. This was discussed in the TFA thread so pretty bogus to try and introduce it here.

The goal was just to stall and distract the FO until some other Resistance ships could come and rescue them. They started sending Leia's signal as soon as they got there.

I stand by my statements. And the compilation speaks for itself.

First Order could not have just surrounded the resistance ships?

I think this is a valid question would be fun to discuss if we did not have all this silly stuff being posted.

I wonder if there is a min distance limit for hyperspace. They would have had to shoot ships all over the place and then have them head back. Maybe the 18 hours was shorter than that? Also, since the FO knew this to be the remnants fo the core of the Resistance if they just ENJOYED pushing them along knowing they would run out of fuel. In fact, I think my answer is Hux and Snoke got pleasure by thinking the Resistance was just over there waiting to die.

Here you go bud. I can't imagine you would go against Hamil's OWN WORDS, eh?

I was quoted as saying to Rian that I fundamentally disagree with everything you decided about Luke, and it was inartfully phrased. What I was, was surprised at how he saw Luke. And it took me a while to get around to his way of thinking, but once I was there it was a thrilling experience. I hope it will be for the audience too.

Again I stand by my statements. You don’t have to agree. That’s what’s makes this a great place to discuss and debate.

I agree,

Couple of observations,

1) How did Rey get the broken (Anakin) lightsaber back? I didnt see her go get it.. unless I missed it.
2) Why did the dice disappear long after Luke was gone?

I have an idea for the casino.. the children that were working the stable, are the children that Luke said Kilo took (hence the broom boy). Force wielding children are great with animals.. Like Anakin was... that also explains alittle money the First Order may have got.

Did anyone else think Marks voice sounded like Harrison?

The question of how the blue light saber was found was the only lingering question I had from TFA and as I expected, it was brushed aside.
When you boil it down, its the only reason these new films exist.

Lando found it years ago on Bespin.. sold and sold and collected.. just a guess

She probably just grabbed it before she took off in Snoke's escape craft. We see the saber break, the hyperspace collision and the next shot of Snoke's throne room is Hux and Kylo on the ground.

I used to be a firm believer in the internet as a great equalizer - and that everyone should have access - but after reading some Last Jedi threads on Facebook and elsewhere, I'm gonna start to rethink that. Oh man...

Its only one of the last relics... kind of meaningful (it certainly was in TFA), other than "probably just grabbed it". Not picking at you.. cause I thought the same thing (well she must have grabbed it).. guess Im asking for too much detail.

Maz's jetpack: anyone else think "Cirrus X3"?

Nope... Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy
