Guys apologies if this is the wrong thread for this. But I’ve just started watching a forgotten making of the Empire Strikes Back on YouTube and in it there is some decent footage of Mark Hamill using what looks like the V2 with Bob Anderson. I’ve never seen this before and in the spirit of sharing thought I’d link. If I’m wrong apologies. Thought it was cool to see.

Start at about 7 mins for footage of him fencing.

Definitely accounts for a lot of the damage, you can see at one point Hamill is holding the saber by the blade and tapping the pommel on the floor, which could definitely cause the little nicks and marks on the bottom.
also interestingly, it looks like they're not dueling with the Graflex clamp on at least in the practice scenes. When Mark is absentmindedly rotating the saber in his hands during the interview, I can't see the clamp.
I believe this is the v3 we see Hamill using, and sticking to my guns on this

Agreed. I believe the V3 is the “practice stunt” we see in the Empire pics and footage. This was later carried over as the dueling stunt (in England anyway—Yuma stunt for the short bladed saber in the US) for Jedi. I think the V2, for whatever reason, may have relegated to non-dueling status and therefore retained its original clamp and became the primary belt ringer in Jedi.
V2 was used for dueling in ESB as well with its clamp on, I got a thread in the works but need to finish all the other threads I’ve started
Keep an eye out for my v3 theory

I have my own little theory about the V3. I'll wait for you to post your theory, and then I'll share my thoughts.
I’m scared
