New Luke ROTJ v2 3d model comparison and analysis

Hey, thanks all for the response. It’s arrived now so I’ve added some clearer pics. What do you mean BRRogers by a machinist mistake?

I’m undecided if I should keep it or sell on as I think the stencil job hasn’t been done great, it’s ok now as I’ve done a couple of layers of clear coat but the paint was coming off when touched which might be why it doesn’t look the best.
I love the V2 and have actually had an rpk kit with So-Cal since August last year but I’m yet to receive it.

Trent and I have a step by step tutorial on how to over haul this thing

Trent also sells the stencils, with his stencils and the tutorial would could finish it yourself

If don’t correctly and follow the instructions exactly you won’t have a single chip fall off... I’ve never had anyone complain about chips

And I have a buddy who sleeps with it..

Lol, I won’t sleep with it... maybe on my bedside table.
I did think about ordering some stencils as I have one of Trents gaffas tape adapters on its way but I chickened our and left it. I’ll watch the tutorial, where do I find it please. My problem is I’d like to have one as accurate as I can and Don’t want to make a bodge job of it and I’m also unsure if a nicely weathered rpk is going to show up or maybe even just the kit.

It’s cool.... I found it. Amazing tutorial, I’ll have a proper watch/read of it all.

I don't remember all the specifics but as I recall, the "builder's kit" exists because the notches for the locking mechanism for the second Anakin Starkiller run were machined wrong (I think they were machined according to an older design), resulting in a bunch of boosters that couldn't lock with the grenade sections. Rather than just like, throw them out or let them collect dust, he did a run of the "builder's kit," with a simplified emitter and at a reduced price

The ring section is a tad bit different by 2mm in one spot

Dan didn’t expect this and the shop stood behind their work and machined a new set. Dan had a ton of ring sections left over with the 2mm difference and decided to make up the different under the clamp.

So the booster section of the builders kit is a tad bit shorter, BUT when assembled is the same height as the FX one

Thanks for the info. I’ve now hand painted the missing bits of stencil and it’s come out pretty good. Just need to get a lever replacement as the screw snapped when I tried to loosen it ☹️
Then add a mystery chunk and I’ll be happy.

I'd love to get my hands on one of Roman's new levers, to compare with Roy's, they do look nice!

sounds like the perfect opportunity to grab one of his new vintage MK1 Armitage handwheel replicas while you get that lever ;)
