Hi Gang,
Jeeez... its about time I posted this "Weekend's Update"!
Jake continued his work on the wiring
I finished up the door frame panel
I designed these new recessed cover plates with finger holes
Designed a trim piece
Adhered together and primed
Paint
I then designed and laser cut these .5" wide filler / support pieces
In place - they will add a little but more support for the new panel
Lots of glue!
Panel in place!
Backside
Holes are large enough if we have to remove screws, nuts, wiring, etc
Have to design and laser cut the lower panel
Perfect!
Laser cut the recessed panel housing(s)
Everything fits!
Primer!
Paint
I sanded down these black cover plates and thought...
I like the contrast between the panel and the plate
I painted the plates a dark silver
Now we wait...
Fill and sand all the brad holes
Door frame temp in place - makes such a difference!
Tough to see...
Sanded and painted
Plates mounted
The plates HAD to be recessed or the door frame would have torn into the bolt heads and cover plate
Door frame in place (with a little bit of light)
I finally added the tip to the "Cockpit Laser Gun"
This is probably one of the more weird greeblies in the cockpit. Most everything can be explained away.... but this guy is so odd!
Still cool looking
And this is where we are!
Gang... I have to admit I have been emotionally and physically exhausted these last few months. I'm really trying to get back into my regular groove and attack the project with the same level of enthusiasm and "Gung Ho" spirit you've been so accustomed to... Bare with me!
More to follow so stay tuned...
