Another Mass Effect N7 Build - Pic Heavy - Complete

Re: Another Mass Effect N7 Build - Pic Heavy

Well I just can't leave this armor alone, so I decided to weather it....a lot. :p

I'll be sure to get pics up in a bit!

Edit: Pictures!

So I decided that the black on black just wasn't visually interesting, but that I didn't want to do the two toned look. So I decided to try my hand at a bit of weathering of pieces. I forgot to get any in progress photos, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I started with the thigh portions of the armor. Before and After:

Then I did the same to the edges and details of the other assorted pieces.

At which point I felt comfortable enough to try and do the torso portion of the armor.

And while I was working on it, I took some clear tubing I had lying around and added it with EL wire to make the glowing parts of the shield generator and weapons slots. With flash and without.

I've since permanently fixed the EL wire into place (so that floater there won't show up again!) and while I had some paint let over, I decided to add a bit to the Paladin as well.

Thanks for checking it out!

Sorry for the lack of updates. There just hasn't been much progress that I felt was worth updating about.

I have reinforced parts of the torso, partially because I want there to be some give, but also so that it is a bit less likely to have any major issues. I also am making small improvements to the paint job. Nothing really earth shattering or that will likely be noticed in any photos I posted. I did decide to go ahead and create a helmet to go with this armor, so I have been working on the paper templates for that. Other than that, I'll update later with more as it happens.

So I couldn't leave this alone. I had to tinker with the paint job a bit and then cut myself off before I continue on and stall progress any further.

So I mentioned permanently securing the EL Wire into place. This is what that ends up looking like. (Along with the M77 Paladin prop for fun.)

Then I did a bit of weathering on the hand pads and a black wash on the metallic parts in order to tone it down a bit.

After that was adding the ribbed portion for the thighs details.

Then I did a bit of silver on the butt. Then a light sanding to give it a brushed metallic look. I also painted over the ribbed portion with black acrylics.

Then I decided that I needed to cut myself off, so I decided that I wanted to have some shine to the armor. So I hit it all with a few coats of gloss clear.

Which gave me the sheen that I was looking for. (Note: No flash was used here. I was just that close to the light source.)

That's all for now. I'll have to get some suited up pictures when I get the chance.

Re: Another Mass Effect N7 Build - Pic Heavy

With Halloween in the bag, I was finally able to take advantage of the holiday and get some quality time with the armor and cameras! I have not had the helmet work out so far, so I went without one. So this is the final look for the armor:

I also took third in a contest on Saturday, so here are a few pics from that:

Now to work on refining it and moving on to the next thing! Thanks for checking this out!
