Your Indiana Jones Displays - Lets see 'em

I paid $29 for a working one and another $23 for the correct chain (seems more than a few have the wrong one based on Sarednab's gallery page that shows a clip instead of a circular center t-bar that you can plainly see in a freeze frame). Compared to some pricey Indy items (accurate headpieces for example), it's a relative bargain and it's possibly functional as well (real pocket watch). The Marion IMCO lighter is another one. I've purchased three now (one early '40s one with some time aged character and bits of chipped nickel on the finish and minor corrosion on an inside strut with the original TM Reg Austria cap, a "Patent Austria" cap one in excellent condition probably made in more recent decades) and another early TM Reg cap one from the late '30-40s in excellent condition as it was rarely used. I paid $20 shipped for the latter one and $15 each shipped for the other two. That's not much more than a new Chinese made one or knockoff. So many were made they aren't rare for a vintage one. Ronson lighters are often the same way for many models. I got a From Russia With Love style Ronson Whirlwind in very good condition for like $7 plus shipping.

Now the Touch Tip I just bought cost me $190, but it's a one of a kind WWII gifted model made in the 1930s and gifted to a guy for his wedding with engraved signatures from big whigs at the British Power company, a couple whom went on to British parliament after the war. The engraved wedding date is in 1941, I think shortly before Pearl Harbor. Octets were used in Bogart movies (One was used in Ms. Wonderly's apartment as part of a tray and cigarette box set and another stand alone in the movie Conflict with Sydney Greenstreet and Bogart) and this one is also a bit of a WWII British artifact.... I think I got a bargain, especially since it looks like almost mint condition (probably rarely used).

Besides, the idea of a British purchased WWII lighter with historical signatures in the hands of an American (me) amuses me for some reason. I'm a big fan of British culture, though. If it weren't for an ear infection/vertigo, I'd be visiting again later this month. I'm going to aim for next spring instead (I want to rent a car and tour the British countryside for a couple of weeks plus a week in London to do the things I didn't have time for the last time I was there).
when it comes to Marion 's IMCO lighter I'm afraid that I went for a cheap repro one from China on eBay for £12.99 Inc p&p and personal i think it looks an almost perfect match but it is of course not an IMCO but I'm happy with it and after all it's only a display item.

This is the thing about collecting or making replica props it becomes a real obsession and we all love it.

Another addition to my Indy collection this is a replica I've just finished making it's a German Officers hat as worn by Colonel Vogel in The Last Crusade,it started out as a grey chauffeurs type one which I found at a car boot sale for £3.00 then sprayed it black reshaped the sides and glued them in place added string for the top piping modified a curtain tie back for the band and sprayed it silver, finally purchased the replica badges from eBay for £9.75. However this was not my original plans when I purchased the hat it was going to be a replica of the Zeppelin Stewards hat that Indy wears in the classic no ticket scene, but the hat just did not look right painted white but that's how making replica props goes sometimes.

Nice job, Peter!

Here's mine - by no means a cohesive display and no where near as classy looking as the collections being shown off here.

I'd like to put up a shelf behind Indy for the Idol, stones and urn.

Indy is Howard's v1 sculpt and stands on a custom base built by a fellow board member. The idol I got years ago from Magnoli thru ebay but I'd love to upgrade to a Gobler idol. The stones and Urn were all a gift from Ave4uevoli but I'm unsure of the maker. The stones with the lines light up. I'd like to find a nice Grail cup similar to Brad's.
The Nurhachi urn from temple of doom is the one prop I've never being able to get right when I've tried to make a replica, and the ones for sale are very expensive but I'm sure someone did a cheap plastic one but never being able to find one

I've been keeping an eye out for a better one myself. There's a nice looking one on Etsy (I think it's a kit "paint your own" from Sarednab), but even though it looks nice (and very "jade-like" a real Asian urn), it doesn't match the movie paint scheme. For $300, I want it to look pretty darn close (Mcintosh275's urn looks pretty good that he showed me pictures of). I've seen the paint your own one for sale unpainted on eBay and it starts with a nice translucent green, but even playing with Photoshop, I can tell that using transparent colors PLUS green is problematic (probably where that other paint scheme went wrong as blue + green <> blue). Flatter tones could work, but you'd have to have some skill with an air brush and you only get one shot at it (pretty expensive per try if you could get more than one vase, let alone when there's only one for sale on the entire Earth) so I wasn't willing to chance it.

The one I bought off Etsy isn't plastic, but it's not translucent "jade" either. It does look nice at a distance, however and the color scheme isn't really quite right, but it's closer than green on green and it was only a bit over $100 by comparison (from Spain). I haven't seen that one for sale recently either (another one did go up after the one I bought, so maybe he only makes one at a time or maybe he's done; who knows).

I'm sure if I keep looking I'll find the fortune and glory and find one that's not so expensive

Two new items added to my display the replica I made in photoshop of Sallah's Egyptian Mail newspaper from The Last Crusade, and with the shops having halloween stuff in i brought a toy red kneed tarantula which of course Indy and Satipo get all over them in the Chachapoyan Temple at the start of Raiders

Probably should have done this sooner because due to an error by me i posted my display in a separate post,no matter here it is my Indy props display and 95% of the items i made myself, also as I live in England and replica guns are not easy to own the two revolvers are 3d printed models painted and the Browning h p lookalike is a water pistol painted.

I decided I'd light up Elsa's Lucky Lighter at least once before putting it back on the shelf (on my home theater page I took photos of all my antique and movie lighters lit up and working so far).

Great collection. I'd love to pick up one of the manuscript books some time.

Made it myself just printed off the two pages to the size of the book almost A4 size making sure to leave a 3/4 inch boarder as it looks about that size in the film the pages shared below of course, glued them into the book which is in fact an old gardening book which I purchased from a charity shop for £1.50,added the two clasps with are just painted card the metal corners are mirror protectors which you can buy very cheap at most diy type shops i paid £2.99 for a packet of four and as a finishing touch just used a piece of ribbon as the book mark.

Very nice. I don't know why I didn't think of that...I just assumed it was the one Sarednab did a few years ago.

I did mine more or less the same way. The clasps are made of thick cardboard painted and aged but the book cover has real leather
