when it comes to Marion 's IMCO lighter I'm afraid that I went for a cheap repro one from China on eBay for £12.99 Inc p&p and personal i think it looks an almost perfect match but it is of course not an IMCO but I'm happy with it and after all it's only a display item.I paid $29 for a working one and another $23 for the correct chain (seems more than a few have the wrong one based on Sarednab's gallery page that shows a clip instead of a circular center t-bar that you can plainly see in a freeze frame). Compared to some pricey Indy items (accurate headpieces for example), it's a relative bargain and it's possibly functional as well (real pocket watch). The Marion IMCO lighter is another one. I've purchased three now (one early '40s one with some time aged character and bits of chipped nickel on the finish and minor corrosion on an inside strut with the original TM Reg Austria cap, a "Patent Austria" cap one in excellent condition probably made in more recent decades) and another early TM Reg cap one from the late '30-40s in excellent condition as it was rarely used. I paid $20 shipped for the latter one and $15 each shipped for the other two. That's not much more than a new Chinese made one or knockoff. So many were made they aren't rare for a vintage one. Ronson lighters are often the same way for many models. I got a From Russia With Love style Ronson Whirlwind in very good condition for like $7 plus shipping.
Now the Touch Tip I just bought cost me $190, but it's a one of a kind WWII gifted model made in the 1930s and gifted to a guy for his wedding with engraved signatures from big whigs at the British Power company, a couple whom went on to British parliament after the war. The engraved wedding date is in 1941, I think shortly before Pearl Harbor. Octets were used in Bogart movies (One was used in Ms. Wonderly's apartment as part of a tray and cigarette box set and another stand alone in the movie Conflict with Sydney Greenstreet and Bogart) and this one is also a bit of a WWII British artifact.... I think I got a bargain, especially since it looks like almost mint condition (probably rarely used).
Besides, the idea of a British purchased WWII lighter with historical signatures in the hands of an American (me) amuses me for some reason. I'm a big fan of British culture, though. If it weren't for an ear infection/vertigo, I'd be visiting again later this month. I'm going to aim for next spring instead (I want to rent a car and tour the British countryside for a couple of weeks plus a week in London to do the things I didn't have time for the last time I was there).
