Your Indiana Jones Displays - Lets see 'em

I'm trying to figure out a way to use AC powered lights with the stones instead of the battery powered candles as batteries will need changed all the time, relatively speaking. The stones are just hollowed out inside with battery powered remote controlled votive candles placed inside with a rubber stopper added to friction hold them in place. They are 1.5"x1.8" with some room to spare vertically inside.

I found a nice e12 (candelabra) wall powered holder. I could plug three in with the stoppers modified slightly to hold them in place and drill a hole below the where the stones will sit and plug them into an RF controller to remotely turn them on and off. The problem is the bulbs that fit don't have a flickering function. There are e12 bulbs that flicker but they are 4"+ in length and probably won't fit.

*NEW* - Candlelit "Adventures of Indiana Jones" Bookshelf Display

- It includes new brighter remote control votive candles inside the MIMIC Sankara Stones and candles to light the rest of the display). I put a couple more in some key spots in the home theater room as well. One button on/off operation. The only downside is the batteries will need replaced every few months at least (ugh).

I feel like I'm living in a room from PIrates of the Caribbean now with these lit... :D

I got this idea of adding background props to the now diorama-like bookshelf display to cover bare wall (based on the Hindu cloth parchment). I figured Club Obi-Wan ads/posters would make sense for the champagne glass and urn and the parchment for behind the stones. I've also swapped the grail over where the cigarettes were to keep everything in relative movie chronological order and put a stand-in for the grail diary in the form of the LOTR special edition box that kind of resembles it on the back side.

Here's two previews, one with a flash and one with the candles lit in the dark:

Lightning - Hey, I like that display, especially the wood log bit to hang the medallion on! However, since you clearly have enough space, I'd go with a whiskey bottle one size larger of Jack Daniels at some point in the future (MCINTOSH275 and I did a lot of comparisons and we're pretty sure it's the larger bottle). Hey, it's an excuse to drink more Jack! ;)

And of course, as I'm sure you're well aware, you could improve the accuracy of the display at some point with the correct Staff of Ra medallion (Raven Bar vs IMAM).

I actually tried to bid on at least one seltzer bottle at one point too, but there's nowhere for me to put in my home theater (I was going to put it in my china closet upstairs where I have many Blade Runner glasses, but it would be far from the rest of the Indiana Jones items there).

Thanks, it's actually a large chunk of petrified wood, it really looks the part. What is that on the table in the movie anyway?

That bottle of Jack I just had lying around, it will get replaced with an older (and larger) one eventually.

Raven bar headpeice is on the list, that's the $24 Amazon version with upgraded beads. It looks pretty good once you dirty it up. Really is too flat through.

I tried out some Lao Che "airlines" posters on the left, but I didn't care for how they looked there. I did end up adding a photo of Marion Ravenwood in front of her smokes as that seems like something Indy might do if he were making an arrangement. I moved the (stand-in) diary over to make room which puts it more behind the grail, which is chronologically in line with the movies again. Looking at the photo, I'm thinking I should move the cigarette so it appears to be coming out of Marion's mouth. :D (done; I'll leave it there once the diary prop shows up)

I noticed an oddity while watching The Temple of Doom last night. You can clearly see the hexagonal champagne glass early and when Indy goes to first take a drink and gets bumped by Willie Scott, but after they've rotated the table and he actually takes a drink, it sure looks like the glass now has a round stem instead. I'm not sure if that's a different glass or just a lighting trick.

Hmmm, I should probably add a Sean Connery photo to put by the grail diary eventually as well or perhaps just in front of it (smaller one).

I’m sure it’s in the thread somewhere, but who made your replica pistol VonMagnum?

I thought about buying a real one, but after seeing the going price, I thought twice about it. I know a guy at work that owns one too. You'd think the guy would sell me it for a deal seeing he's one of those gun collectors that has a small arsenal at his house and he's 72, but no no no.

This is the fake prop replica one I bought:

I'm looking at knives right now to add to the display since I have a bit of room there in the front and more on the side when I get my electric screen it will be out of the way of the corner to put something there when the screen is up), specifically the knife Indy starts to use to free Marion and then puts it away (seems to be either a Linder 312111 or a Huberus 4109 depending on whom you ask. The former is on Amazon and the Linder site in Germany (around $90) and the Huberus is on eBay for around $150.

Then there's Mutt's knife from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is apparently a handmade Linder switchblade from Italy with a horn handle (oddly it's available in exactly that format on the Linder web site out of Germany, handmade in Italy and everything. It's around $76 plus shipping.

I haven't decided which way to go yet or if at all (might be something else more interesting to put there; I'm looking for at least one more item from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as I have multiple items from the other three movies in the display (let alone the other poster display in the back of the room where I have a lot more Raiders items including the Ark plus the Cross of Coronado).

As for the pocket knife, this is the best option now:

And regarding Mutt's pocket knife is this:

I was looking at the Linder 31211 ($90 USD shipped) and the same Huberus 4109 and I think the switchblade I was looking at is the same as well.

They are similar and very careful with the color of the handle since it can reach you in light color since the deer antlers vary in color, you must inform yourself before...

Staining natural horn and buying it already stained to the desired color seems the same to me other than the yellowish horn is $90 USD (Linder) instead of $150 (Huberus).

They are not dyed, there are some that are lighter and others darker, they are of different shades...

Natural Stag can be any color from white to chocolate, but is often "buttery" in color. That seems to be what the Linder knife I looked at had in it. Red Stag is apparently dyed. Burnt stag is made darker with a torch - What is stag??

Just about all the Stag used on knives today comes from the Sambar Stag native to India and Southeast Asia. I believe the modern material called "Red Stag" is Sambar Stag that has been dyed.
...
3. Burnt Stag is basically what is left after the very best is used for Natural Stag. It is bought in in slabs, fit to the knives, then ground, buffed and polished. The last step for Burnt Stag is a little flame from a propane torch to add a little color. All knife companies use this method. Few let it be known.

Reference Photos of the knife from the movie (taken from BD): (There actually seems to be some bits of buttery yellow in it, after all. A Torch burn might work OK if done right as there's quite a bit of black and some brown as well).
