Is it hard to cast a mold using water based clay?

Hey buddy, no i find it really easy, a nice even layer of err, well, lacquer I'd call it, clear coat, on the finished sculpt helps to give a nice finish and eases the release from the mould. Also water and a brush will easily remove any little shaper details that may get clogged up.

Thanks for the Info! What is the brand of Lacquer that you use? Do you use water based clay to make the mold walls? Also are you going to be selling this Yoda?

Hey you're welcome, any automative brand will do or at least ive never had any problems, as long as the clay isnt too moist and its only applied in few very thin coats. I started him off as a little personal project but depending on how well he finishes up I may be selling a couple of pulls or something just to help the next project. At the minute I'm actually really happy with the progress and cant wait to get some better pics up to show everyone how much hes changed. Thanks for the interest!

its been brutal but i got there! My first YODA latex pull!!!!
Big thanks to my buddy Tim who took time out of his busy schedule to take this away and photograph him for me
Next, get the paintup done, eyes filled and hair punched, Then it'll be another photography session!

Hey, thanks. Yeah I will be doing a small run of 10 of these. Just to cover costs and help me out on my next few projects that include, berserker and scar predator heads from the movies PREDATORS and AVP. Vader unmasked, predator 1 torso and eventually skins. Also I'm really wanting to do a bust of the scene in predator where the pred pins arnie up against the tree by the throat... cant wait to have a crack at sculpting arnie. Just the heads and upper shoulders of the two and the preds arm and hand holding him up. I think that'll be really cool to get a full 360 of that moment. Sooooo
