Yip-Yip puppet help needed

Remember the Yip-Yips from Sesame Street? I'm going to make a puppet and I need to know/confirm a few things before I begin:

1) What is the name of the type of cloth used in the body?

2) Do I use Ping-Pong balls for the eyes, or something else?

3) Are those antennas made from pipe cleaners with pom-poms glued to the ends?

4) What structure, if any, is behind the lower lip to articulate it? It appears to create a solid upside-down U shape when the Yip-Yips "hide" behind them, but it appears floppy when they are talking.

a buddy of mine is a puppet builder and has also worked with the Henson company, he said from what he heard the Yip Yips were made from two chenelle hats Jim found. As for whats inside the mouth he has no idea but is almost positive it a dual rod puppet rather than a hand puppet(One rod attached to the inside of the head at the top and one attached to the bottom lip from the inside)

Jason Cash is right. It's just two rods. One attached to the inside top of the head and one attached to the inside middle of the bottom lip.

:lol:thumbsup Thank you for bringing back good old childhood memories, great project!
Shouldn´t be too hard to tackle, i´m watching with interest!

Thanks for the replies! I now need to go visit a cloth store and see if the clerk would know what type of material it is they're made of. The rest should be easy.

If you type in "chenelle" in google, you only get articles about a singer.

Chenille is the fabric you are looking for ;)
