WOoooOOooooooo this is picking up pace now, finally having a regular workshop arrangement is paying off. Thanks to my old secondary school (high school I think is what you lot over the pond call it?), they let me use their workshop as long as a) I bring mostly my own materials b) don't disturb classes c) tidy up after myself
Here, I lined the inside lip with liquid green stuff, sanded it smooth later. Even though it will hardly be seen at all it's good to pay attention to details like that.
Today I made a bracket for the front shell; it was bondo'd in after aligning holes were drilled for the central barrel to bolt onto.
I had a LOAD of problems with the gloss lacquer though. The nozzle was one of those ones that's supposed to not be taken out, but obviously it had broken at some point. Basically, although the spray
did come out the front nozzle, it also came out at the sides; and also at first it just sprayed out a couple of horrible blobs which I had to sand back. ANYWAY long story short, the gloss effect turned out well, but not as well as I had hoped. I'll just disguise it as weathering I guess.
Started looking better with a black line and ID sticker on though.
Unfortunately I realised that the front shell was more bulky on one side than the other (by a fraction, but enough to bug me)
POTaDOS starting to take shape with a basecoat here. Thanks to John for spending an age on sanding it to a realistic finish.
Obligatory posing photo. Top claw base was bondo'd into place after being araldited as well.
