Ok so I don't believe there have been a complete set of maps completed for this subject.

JOE WHITE - "Does anyone actually have the short Phantom cans? Or were they cut short? Am I forgetting something? "

so whats the answer ? :)

I have one, thanks, Don! I just couldn't remember. Beaz somewhat shortened his can to match the ref he was looking at. I swear that I read somewhere that there were two variations. I could be wrong, though.

Joe

When you guys say shorter cans, are you talking about the engines or the turkey feathers?I have 2 of the shorter turkey feathers & been looking for 2 more for a while.
I tried to post pictures but can't right now for some reason.

Dave

I have some short turkey feathers, too. Every time you open a Phantom, it's like a lottery! An almost always disappointing lottery.

Thanks guys! Yeah, Dave, Turkey feathers is what I meant. Cool I have nothing but long t.feathers. Although I might have to take another look just to be sure.

Joe

Is the shorter turkey feathers part really used on the X wings?

Looking at the spacing between the feathers on the 'short' engine of Hero Red 3 it looks like its just a trimmed down standard version. The lines of the feathers taper towards the ring end and almost meet on both versions of the part. The short one on Red 3 appears to have wider gaps between the feathers themselves.

Who knows.

That's a good question. Most were trimmed if I remember correctly. I think I read one of the X-Wing's used the short exhaust. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on these models but if one of the real "X-perts" (nice on , Craig! :)) would like to chime in, I think we'd all appreciate it!

Joe

To my knowledge the only one with the short feathers was Blue Leader/Red 2.

Speculation has been that the short one on Red 3 was borrowed from a Red 2 engine, since it is still missing that part.

Sorry no photos handy yet.

Jase, hopefully I can fill in a few blanks for you on some new maps.
