X-WING & TIE PILOT HELMET progress pics

I've said all I plan to say on the source of these items so there's no need to keep asking.

Since you seem to want to make this a public issue, I can tell you why it is a delicate subject that we aren't going to sit idly by on... those of you who are coming into this thread and asking "innocent" questions are doing nothing of the sort, and everyone knows it. Lets not play games about what you are doing. You guys have a long history of problems with Gino and he with you. What is being done here is essentially trolling and baiting in an effort to undermine Gino in any way possible. Don't deny it and don't pretend that is not what you are doing. It is, plain and simple. If you do not agree with Gino, that is fine. If you don't like Gino, that is also fine. You guys have an entire sandbox of your own to discredit him until the cows come home. Go do it there. Stop coming in to every thread he posts here on the RPF, looking to start trouble or hoping you can keep picking at him until he loses his cool and gets permanently banned. Move along.

Thank you for your explaination. I don´t have any problem with Gino.
It´s not like you claimed at all. I take old story´s of misbehave completely aside. I just were asking a serious question of interest, and didn´t receive any answer. Although I find this to be very rude. I even found it more wrong to send me a warning for asking. Let me tell you: I´m not envy in any case, you know I have no need for it. I´m not trolling. I only did want an answer. I love to have perfect replicas. And I see Gino can make them. I love to see it. I love being inspired. I don´t want him to be banned. That would be a great loss for all of us. Everyone has his weakness. I will take care of his cool. If you want to write me, please take it pm, so that we both can take this aside this really great thread of great craftsmanship!

I think both helmets look great! Looking at the unfinished x-wing helmets makes me want to build one, even though i've never found them very interesting. Its just there begging for a nice paint job!

I REALLY like the tie helmet, but i would like to see a better replica of the hero face.
Thats not an attack, so no PM's having a go at me please. I'm not happy witth the face thats in my Tie helmets either.
Infact i've not seen a replica hero face i would be really happy with and probably never will. Its just a totally different face to me than the stunt and will be very hard to replicate without having a mold taken from an original hero face.
My AT-AT helmet replica is just sat in my loft waiting for a good face plate.

I would like to see this Tie helmet with a face thats not as wide as the one in the photos. Do you have any black stunt faces Gino you could just try in this helmet to see how it looks with a face thats a bit more slack looking if you know what i mean.

BTW, I wish we could all just get along on here. Its just a hobby after all.

Keith.

Keith, I have loved the pics of the hero I ahve seen of yours (the one in your avatar) Do you not believe the SU heros were wider than the stunts?

I think Gino's hero buckets from back in the day are about spot on. So If that is what is in his TIE that should look just about right as well?

And I would consider myself on Gino's GOOD side so this isn't baiting. Just pure curiousity. Gino himself knows what a TK hero nut I am. So anything I don't know about those buckets and subsequently the TIE's as well... I would love to know!

Maybe we should just make a hero/TIE discussion thread? :) (FYI the tear detail is softer because the ENTIRE Hero faceplate WAS softer)

Again I feel his hero is about perfect so... the TIE should be the closest out there to perfect as far as a replica goes. But that is just IMHO.

(y)thumbsup

Hey Ken, thanks for saying so.
Just FYI, this face is a new face, not the v2 face.

Here's a quick comparison of my TIE next to one of the screen used heros.
Of course the lighting and angles aren't exactly the same and the assembly and trimming may be slightly different in areas, but otherwise it's just about on the nuts.

Just saw this thread. Very nice looking helmets indeed.

As for where these screen pieces came from I don't see anywhere that Gino said they come from a screen TIE helmet which is what most people appear to have presumed.

Had anybody thought that it may be from a screen X Wing + Gino's screen trooper faceplate (obviously the hero version of the faceplate being a background trooper reworked). It was my first thoughts upon looking at the helmets.

I had also thought it was common knowledge that the TIE, ATAT and all trooper helmets had the tear feature. Same as all TIE, ATAT and X Wing helmets have the dent / ding on the right hand side part of the mohawk.

Chris

:love

Yeah as far as width is concerned IDK how that could be more "right"?

It really fills up that flight helmet. I don't think a screen accurate stunt or "background" helmet would do that.

It´s looking really gorgeaus. Put the greebles a little up and it´s perfect!!!

The hero face does look wider. IMO a stunt face made wider looks great from the front, but to me they look a bit odd when looking at them from a three quater angle. Then there's the hero tubes which are totally different than the stunts.

But what can we do? We only have one original stunt face to use.

I think Gino has done a great job with it though.

Keith.

IMO the tubes on the hero helmets are different than the stunts. Longer slimmer.

If you have a mold of a hero helmet face, then we means everyone other than you.

Or i should say people who have the "rights" to use the stunt face casting in the first place, or people who are trying to convert a pull from a stunt face.

Keith.

The tubes are the same in both shape and length.
They look thinner because the TIE earcap cutouts squish them.
The very back of the faceplate tubes fits into the earcap cutouts and easily pinches them to fit inside. The back of the faceplate tubes are VERY flexible.

Gino, as i've said, the helmets look great. Both of them are THE best there is so far.

I'm trying to be friendly and have a discussion, but i always seem to get bad vibes.

Do you want me to stay out of your threads?

Keith.

Even more to the point, any chance that in the future you'll be as generous with these as you were with your Stormtrooper helmets?

Also, I'd love to hear of any updates on that "pill box". I searched for that part for quite some time and the closest I got was the Songster needle cases, but all in the wrong colors and not quite the right size.

Working on it. I don't think it was a needle case. I think stamp/ink kit might be the key.

Sounds good.

I've looked at several stamp pads in the past. There was a date stamp that came with a pad that looked very close...
