I don't know who you're questions are directed at but I'm guessing me. I know a little about them as I was obsessed with them for years. After spending hundreds trying to get the lenses right I finally did, the result being the pictures on the first page of the Juliets. Only thing was, I was never able to duplicate them and sold that pair like a *******.
The current lenses I have in my Penny's are nice, but nowhere near as perfect red in person as the pair of Juliets. Why? I've got no idea.
From an article and speaking to the guy that made them the lenses were props made for the movie, and supposedly gave James Marsden headaches and eye strain. Since they also have the uncanny ability to cancel out green stop lights (the light looks like its not even on) they had to offer something that was a little more consumer friendly, that being the Ruby Iridium.
Well, long story short after multiple attempts at my local optometrist at 100 a pop, I made a pair exactly like the movie lenses. The thing is, I can't remember the exact forumula to duplicate it. The pair I currently have for the Penny's is nice and uses the same process, but for some reason they aren't as red. My guess is that they were died too dark red, turning the lenses more of a maroon red than laser red.
If you want to know what you have to ask for to get an all solid red mirror, its this.
The lenses themselves have to be died red, and on the inside you need to have a solid silver mirror applied. Pretty much what it does is reflect the lens color to the front, creating a red mirror by the silver reflecting the color of the lens back to the front. Its the only real way to get an all red mirror. There's no actual all red mirror coating available. Why, I have no clue.
It states in an article online that on top of that stuff the Visor lens had an AR coating (Anti-Reflective) on both sides, somehow making it even more red. But when I did this twice neither ended up coming out right. The only way I got it to work was by dieing the lenses red and silver coating the inside. I'm thinking mine were just died red for too long creating a Rose color. I wish I had an extra $100.00 bucks to give it another try, and tell the Optician to not do it as long. I'm positive this is what messed up the color.
Can anyone confirm this? Would leaving it in the red dye make the lenses more Rose than Red?
