X-Men 2 Carphone

OK, the board is 1" x 3/8", the battery is 3/4" x 5/16" x 1/8", speaker is 1/2" dia 3/16" in the center. they can be purchased from dealextreme.com its a BT-300 and sells for 6.80$ U.S. I was looking at the pics on page two of this post. that is where I thought I saw the hinges. We can go with your method, that's fine.

I had just started my first day at ITT Tech. Can't wait to get in the lab. Have been stocking on PC bord making suppies, And building a new developing tank for them.

Hope this info helps out.

No new updates from this project? I was hoping more progress since being absent for 7 months. Hmm. Maybe I can still purchase this prototype from Shapeways and hopefully come close to a metallic finish.

Yes, I have been very busy between work and school. But still working on the charger base. On the shapways, you will have to use a very fine sandpaper to get a mirror finish from it.

I don't think I've said how thoroughly impressed I am with the talent involved in making this prop thus far.

Jay has done a great job modelling the phone parts and thesyfyguy is working electronic wonders, everyone has chipped in but Jay really did some stellar work modelling up the main parts for the phone.

Great work everyone.

Hey SYFYGUY!
Any new updates or are you still busy with school/work? Any progress on the charging base? I completely understand as the holidays have been the only time for me to catch up on the forums.
I'm willing to help out in anyway to have this prop be available to us here. Honestly really excited about this still.

still trying to get several good photos to reproduce the radio base with. Also saving up to buy a 3D printer. as far as school only two quarters left to go. Have been working on schematics for the recharge unit and the motor controls. was thinking about maybe installing an FM radio in it to make it a little more functional.

Ahhh... so good to hear that things are still in progress. Those features of using Arduino as a FM tuner is awesome. Any chance you can take the time to take photos to whet our appetite? I've been wanting to see if the home version is as versatile as the ones that Shapeway uses. Looking forward to all the progress anyways, especially that base ( I hope it matches in theme).

I will make a cardboard cut out, assemble it and take some photos. Adruino are on order and waiting for them to arrive. trying to obtain a copy of solid works in order to turn my ideals into reality. I have took as many photos of the radio as possible so I can make it is exact as possible. only a few modifications as possible one of witch is an X-men logo on top. but as soon as the cardboard prototype is built I will post photos. is there any more updates on the phone part?

I need input & help, just got through viewing X-men 2 and listening to the commentary. Found out that the car used is a Mazda 2008, and that the phone dose not come out of the radio as we thought. it comes out of a spot above the radio and sir vent. here is a photo of the dash.

phone door open1.JPG2004-mazda-rx-8a.JPG here is the problem to make it as close to the original we would have to reporduce the complete center dash. Now we could either reproduce the hidden compartment only with remote. Or we could reproduce the radio part and design the hidden compartment in it.

I never got around to ordering a phone from shapeways. I'd have to order more than one though, as I already know I'll jack up the first one somehow.

there is still the locking and release parts in the center of the phone. as well as the top and bottom will have to be remolded into two parts so the head phone and the microphone can be installed. Now we will have do decide which way to go with the charger.

Wow, I've been looking for this prop for years, and I finally found this thread...I just joined the RPF for this! You guys are amazing, I can't wait to see what y'all come up with next! I'd have been content with a static prop, but to see the level of craftsmanship that you guys are putting into this is beyond impressive. I'm going to be ordering the pieces from Shapeways this week, and keeping my eyes peeled for a solution to the spring loaded opening. Thank you guys!

I was hoping to order one from either shapeway or from a member here that no longer wants/needs their prototype phone. I went back to pg. 2 to order it and the page to order is no longer available. Is there a way to re-order it?
