'WonderWoman' Costume Changes After Fan Reactions

Hard to tell how bad it is... some of it looks like it could have been very entertaining on some level, especially since Adrienne Pilecki is so easy on the eyes... but one thing I really hate is bad wire-work. Nothing ruins a good fight scene or ruins the illusion for me more than bad wire work.

Hmmm, what should I say? Firesprite was right with Supes comment, that was just stealing… I was watching a superheroine pilot, but not quite WW, maybe they really should have hired someone, who at least knows about the WW universe.

The clips were removed before I could view them.
However, I would like to see it aired for better or worse.
I feel the same way about the Fantastic Four movie that was never released. If a movie is made it might as well be viewed and judged.
After all I remember watching Cathy Lee Crosby as Wonder Woman on tv years ago.

Stealing Superman's tagline is bad enough, but she just comes off as... petulant. Wonder Woman should NOT be petulant!
Superman lost claim for Truth Justice & The American Way after Superman Returns and denouncing his American citizenship!

:lol

I'm making a judgement based on small clip I saw. Maybe I spoke to early or maybe I'm just holding it up to standards that I shouldn't.... the acting seemed bad, and yeah - there is probably acting just as bad or worse on episodic television.

I wish I had the chance to see the entire thing and I still wish we were able to have a regular WW television series... I'd rather have something than nothing. A lot of fanboys (and gals) made a bit of noise about the costume and that alone may've had the networks think twice about approving the series. I liked the idea behind it (superhero = rockstar) and wish we could've seen how that played out.

In stills I thought the costume was acceptable. Lots of folks complained about the shiny-ness. In action, the costume was nothing more than a T&A fest - not just impractical (as most superhero costumes are) but just nothing cleavage ready to pop out and hurt someone - at the very least she didn't need a TV tray.

This is pretty boring. I haven't made it that far into it but i almost can't. Thank you for posting the link but I can see layers of things they did wrong with this character - trying to make her into a celebrity is the first stupid idea and it just carries on from there. The world seems fake - and cramming it with Nancy Grace, Doctor Phil and personalities such as this only add to the plastic masks. Wonder Woman should have started with her on the island or attacking a submarine (showcasing her strength) have her fall into a trap where she stripped of her mantle as Wonder Woman and not allowed back to the main land. Another girl is chosen to be Wonder Woman while Diana is imprisoned for a few years-she breaks out after a few years and makes it back to the USA to find her replacement dealing out a harsher form of justice than allowed- maybe killing people - it all boils down to Wonder Woman vs Wonder Woman where she discovers her replacement set her up in the first place and Diana defeats her proving why she is the one true Wonder Woman. I don't know - something like that- something that digs into the background of where she comes from and why she does what she does. Lots of people don't know the myth - it seems like these people were just trying to remake the tv show, not adapt the comic book.

I haven't watched it yet... but, the idea of taking the idea of a hero and taking it to the 'rockstar' level just intrigues me. I love this idea and think it's way overdue.

I do think most comic book heroes already have celebrity status - in a way, Lois and Clark, while they are legit news sources, might be seen as a paparazzi - taking it up a notch just seems like the logical next step. It's not totally original (Booster Gold, et al), but it really is totally believable (errr... well, as believable as superheroes go :lol).

I understand a lot of folks want the Wonder Woman they are comfortable with... they want the story they're accustomed to. I understand that totally. Generally, I dislike change for change sakes... but, after seeing what DC is doing to their entire line, the basic idea behind this TV show doesn't seem too bad. It just sounds like it was poorly executed.

Accepted superheroes in comics and movies generally get a 'rockstar' type reaction from people when they show up. Spider-Man had groupie-types begging for him to take them swinging through NYC, Superman is ALWAYS greeted with cheers and adoration (except from the bad guys), Tony Stark/Iron Man has a pretty big following.

It's not under-utilized by any means. It's a means for manufacturing drama for the character that, in my opinion is just too easy to put into play.

Still, my main issues are NOT the 'superhero as rockstar' thing, nor the modern day setting. It's the fact that they felt the need to give her THREE identities, the fact that the actress' portrayal of her comes off as petulant and pouty rather than powerful and strong, and the fact that they don't even bother to touch on the mythology that she sprang forth from.

I was under the impression that the public knew Diana Themyscira fought crime as Wonder Woman. At least her management and the people who designed toys and merchandise did, so I didn't really count those as separate. The true alter ego was Diana Prince, who wanted to chill out at her apartment with her cat, create a Facebook profile:wacko, and drink wine.
I thought it was terribly boring, and the action segments looked like a female pro wrestler. I also had a problem with Wonder Woman killing those guys with the pipe, as she could have easily gotten past them. I've seen her kill before, but only when absolutely neccessary. I was also weirded out by her swearing and talking about her t**s. That seemed to be the point they were trying to make, that she had her moments too, but it still came off as odd to me.
Edited to add: I did like seeing Bullets and Bracelets, I have to admit.

Generally speaking, they don't tend to embrace the 'rockstar-ness' of it all... they don't merchandise, they don't promote themselves. This is the aspect of it all that I am refering to.

People with secrect identities can't really live a rockstar lifestyle.

No explanation of where her abilities came from, the unnecessary brutality of a proud warrior, no due process for the criminals, three identities, a barely cosplay worthy costume...oh yeah, and murder.

No grace, no class. No thanks...

Wow, that was embarrassingly bad. Good call by the network on this one.

Gotta agree. I thought it was marginally OK up until the marketing meeting. That was where they really lost control of the character.

It's the fact that they felt the need to give her THREE identities, the fact that the actress' portrayal of her comes off as petulant and pouty rather than powerful and strong, and the fact that they don't even bother to touch on the mythology that she sprang forth from.

The three identities thing threw me, too. There's a ton of Greek objets d'art around her offices and reference to Amazons being blessed during her meeting, and that's as close as they come to the mythology. The meeting just soured the whole thing badly. She actually plays the poor little rich girl card! And the obsession with her boobs was so off-kilter - illogical too, she actually looks bigger than the doll in that scene. :lol

I also had a problem with Wonder Woman killing those guys with the pipe, as she could have easily gotten past them.

She's SO arrogant! That scene where she wants to interrogate the patient...it's like:

Cop: I can't let you in. Sorry.
WW: But I have boobs. Let me in.
Cop: No. I'm an honest cop and I'm doing my job.
WW: AGH LOOK AT MY COSTUME AND LET ME IN!!!!
Detective (to cop): Go away now.
Cop: Mutter
Detective: I can't let you in. It's more than my job's worth.
WW: Oh just let me in. We both know you're going to.
Detective: ...
WW: Wheee!
Patient: AIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Detective: ****. Everyone heard that. I'm boned, aren't I?

I was also weirded out by her swearing and talking about her t**s.

Ditto.

Also...<rant> Could SOMEBODY please TURN UP THE FREAKIN' SOUND on Youtube a couple of notches?</rant>

We don't all have surround sound systems hooked up to our PCs...

I watched it.

In all honesty, I was expecting something so terrible that this just couldn't live up to that hype. I'm not saying it was good - because it sure wasn't - it just could've been much, much worse.

Again, this wasn't a good program... it just wasn't as terrible as I expected. The actress playing WW was pretty bad, she didn't sell me at all and going up against a seasoned actress Elizabeth Hurley in a eye to eye scene just didn't have the brevity it needed.

There was also little in the way of nuance or subplot, nothing to tie us to the characters. Yeah, we had Diana Prince - but that just seemed like an afterthought not a plot point. Steve Trevor? Just seemed too gimmicky.
