Wonder Woman cast

I think I'm just going to need to write a WW script myself and see if I can get any traction with it. There's no reason whatsoever that Wonder Woman can't have respectful and serious treatment the way that Batman has from Christopher Nolan.

I was pretty happy with the recent DVD animated film.
Wish they would make more. They really nailed it for me.
But they are reaching different viewers then network TV with that,
mostly the dedicated fan base.

I think this actress looks the part enough for me.
But with all this CEO stuff their talking about, I hope they aren't trying to make a sort of a female Bruce Wayne.

Or ground the character in reality too much. She does have super powers, mythical origins and forged by the gods crime fighting goodies.

Don't know if she can act, but Gina Carano looks the part to me.

I though of that too - but can she act? Like in actress?

I still wanted Lauren Graham for the movie :(

I swear to the Comic Gods above, I think the ONLY
way we get GOOD movies of some of our childhood
superheros is from the different ANIMATED Series that come
out on DVD !

Seems that way, doesn't it? Seriously, would a live action movie that's even slightly faithful to the comics go over that badly? Catwoman and Elektra sucked because they were just badly done. If they could get somebody decent like Nolan excited about one of these female characters, I'm confident we could get a good movie out of it. Maybe one of these days.

I'm staying open-minded about Wonder Woman but I can't say I'm holding my breath. I'm afraid we're going to get another Smallville where you never see the superhero be the superhero they're supposed to be portraying.

I think if they can update WW so she's relevant to this era it could work. That will take some liberties since an invisible jet could work using stealth technology. An invisible jet based off what WW used to use would be pure cheese.

As much as I balked when the X-men movie franchise opted not to use costumes based on the comic, I think it really helped to sell what a real group of mutants would look like. Now that I've gotten used to the new suites, I'm glad they went this route.

I think in order for WW to work, her costume of old will have to be left in the past and a new suit adopted. Won't they? I don't know how they'll incorporate the lasso. It's very much tied to the image of WW, but I can't see it looking relevant in 2011, but time will tell.

I'm eager to see what they some up with for a new suit too! I think they have to have the lasso, bracelets and tiara...they are just classic WW IMO!

How much can you take away and the character still be WW though?

Change her costume, her origins, powers, and mythical weapons where are you then?

Or is just the basis of the characters creation enough?
An icon of empowerment for women?

A clever writer I believe can both update what is needed and respect the source materials. And there have been plenty of tweaks over the years in that regard.

WW has all these complications that our more reality based super heroes on screen can't process so well. Goddess? Amazonian princess from a hidden island? Metals from the gods with magical powers?

At the end of the day, people have to look at that screen and be able to say yeah, that's her.

It's a tough challenge. I can see writers balking at it especially when you want to sustain a series.

To me, the custome is going to be a tough challenge. You're right, how much can you take away/change and be left with what amounts to a new superhero?

I can't even begin to imagine how they'll make WW look, for lack of a better word, modern. Superheros like Superman and Spiderman can get away using real costumes because they have powers/abilities. It's ingrained in us that as long as you can do something I cant you can wear a mask and get away with it. In fact, it's almost expected.

WW isn't what I'd call a "true" superhero. She doesn't shoot laser beams out of her eyes, doesn't regenerate, etc. Unless she goes the high-tech gadget route like Batman does to give her superhero-esque abilities, I don't know what you're left with.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

Apparently, an audition tape of Tanit Phoenix has turned up which just might answer that question...

Wonder Woman Audition tape reveals Diana Prince obsesses about her breasts being too small

Now that Adrianne Palicki has been cast as NBC's new Wonder Woman, what will her life be like? This leaked audition tape for David E. Kelley's new TV series showcases some interesting dialog between the ice cream loving CEO and her minions... mostly about her breasts.

As we discussed earlier, in this TV series Wonder Woman has two alternate identities: Diana Prince is also Diana Themyscyra, head of Themyscyra enterprises — basically a female Tony Stark. She runs the company and the whole world knows that she is crime fighting as Wonder Woman on the side. Which means one thing: merchandising!

This audition tape (above) for Tanit Phoenix (Death Race 2) showcases exactly how terrible the merchandising is that poor Diana has to consider. The whole thing is enough to make Diana feel inadequate about her cup size, something she's happy to discuss endlessly during a business meeting.

The tape, which was uploaded yesterday, never says outright that this is the script for the NBC series. But the clues are all there: they call her character Diana, and she's looking at a line of dolls that fund her crime fighting. It all seems just as horrifying as the script review we posted earlier. Just the "big t*ts save lives" line alone is enough to make us want to claw our faces off.

We're crossing all of our fingers and toes that this isn't the actual script that will make it on the air (and there's a reasonable chance they're just reading from some crummy script they found online, so let's keep our hopes up). But if not, oof. This could be worse than The Cape.

Thanks for the tip, Lawdog!

Err... She has super-human strength (not just bodybuilder strong- we're talking Incredible Hulk strong), agility, speed, endurance, lightning fast reflexes (which allow her to deflect bullets with her indestructable wrist bracelets), she is able to communicate with the animal kingdom...

And she has been written with the ability to fly since the 60s. This has gone from being able to "ride air currents" to full fledged flying ability after "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Seems pretty "superpower-ish" enough. She has someone like The Flash beat. ;)

Yeah, I watched that clip yesterday and was just thinking to myself, would Wonder Woman really care that much about her breast size? I think of Wonder Woman as a real take-charge kind of woman. If she didn't like the size of the breasts on the action figure, she wouldn't moan about feeling inadequate, she'd tell them to change it (or she'd kick their collective butts) and move on to something more important like saving the world...

I guess I get wanting to make her "accessible" but that dialogue really does blow.

DC needs to stick to animated movies which they are good at and let Marvel ruin live action stuff.

Yeah, I think most folks would agree. I certainly do.

I understand why it'd be a good idea to maybe lose the airplane made of plexiglass because there's just no way to pull that off without being campy but the rest of the stuff I think could be made to work. If a show like Buffy the Vampire Slayer could pull off some relatively crazy mythology they did, I think a show based on Wonder Woman should be able to do it too.

Ok, THAT tape OFFICIALLY KILL'S this for me....

GODS... :sick

Yes,yes I know.. It may not be " exactly " like that
in the show but with HOLLYWIERD totally fubaring
pretty much ANYTHING they get their hands on these days
I have no hope for this..

As I said earlier, I hope to the Comic Gods above they
KEEP making the direct to dvd animated movies.
It's the only hope of anything of any quality !

Huh, right you are. I was thinking back to the show with Linda Carter and using that WW as my base of reference.

Knowing she actually has some powers gives me a little more hope. If you marry her speed/strength/flying ability with some Tony Stark like toys, she could work.

Lucy lawless would have made a better WW back when she was Xena, actually the writing was a lot better too lol

The fanboy in me is pretty pissed about this creative direction. It's not even wonder woman, not even a little bit. They are creating a whole new character and mythology and riding on the iconic name.
The animated WW movie that was released last year would have made a wonderful live-action film - and it stayed true to the comic book character and her origin.
It's like the powers-that-be took a beautiful, well prepared flower bed and ripped all the flowers out and put in their own and called it Wonder Woman.
Blah!
