Wolverine's Jackets

that is still the best looking wolvie jacket i have seen.

its really lame that we cant get that leather anymore. im trying to locate someone who will stull use it.

again, nice.. NICE jacket.

i dont know if its the horse hide, or just the thickness, but that thing ages like a very fine wine.

i dont think the leather they use now is even half that thick.

Other than that, I love this jacket. I'm glad GuntahKela convinced me to get the Walnut color, it's great. It's not as dark in person, it's a hair lighter shade. It's definately a close match to the MI-9 leather color (that you can't get anymore) that the movie version was made from. [/b]

Yes, yes.... You listened to me. See what happens when people listen to me from the beginning? i wish more people did. Instead, they don't, and I die a little more inside, just like Stewie from Family guy.

Your jacket looks right. I still haven't gone back to vansson about what I want on mine's, but i will this coming week. i will make sure about pointing out the back snap thingee. Thanks for posting.

Hi everyone,

Dude, why are some areas dark? Whatever happened to those areas, it should applied all over the jacket.

Thanks.

Belive me the thickness of the leather is no fun at the beginning and with "the beginning" I mean the first few years. :confused

It took 3 years of wearing the jacket almost every day to beak it in more or less. OK, I admit I'm not riding a motorcycle and it may go faster then, but under normal circumstances it will take a long long time.

Once you broke it in the horsehide leather is amacing. Before that, it's body armor. :D

5 years of wearing happened to it. Horsehide leather is a little different. It has a living patina that changes a lot. I can't tell you exactly what happened to the darker areas, it is like the jacket lives it developed and changed a lot in the years.

yeah thats what i wanted my jacket to be like "body armor".

while the wested leather is thick, i want it to be alot thicker, and we've had discussion before about horsehide, and if it just always is thick, or if thats just what we all think. i did read that you can get cowhide thick as well, but i dont really know for sure.

Hey Cole, thanks for the pics. Is the color pretty true to life? It looks a bit brighter than I expected, and a bit more red than in your previous pics. And is that a fabric liner around the collar? I've never seen that on any other wolf jackets.

Edit: You are right, the color is darker in life. You hardly see a difference between the darker spots and the rest of the jacket. Seems like the camera intern programm worked it over a bit. I'll shoot the next pictures in raw and hope it will be even more true to life then.

The collar is how I got it. Seems like the other X1 jackets have just leather there nowadays.

now you got me wanting to post pics of my jacket :p

here is mine without the flash (its like 5 degrees outside Brrrrrr)

its almost got the arm crinkle going :p
but i've only had it for 4 months so there is still sometime to go

Cool. I've been doing some research on the horse hide and all of the pictures I have seen are always fairly dark. I also suppose the "cracks" don't appear as much in real life either. Don't get me wrong, I love the look, but if they are too pronounced, it just looks...bad, lol. I'm inclined to believe that the original movie jacket WAS horsehide. I know that it was weathered, but there is something about the uneven pattern across the jacket that makes me think it was horse. Would you say the color is comparable to the walnut color like on jinn's jacket?

Well it's hard to say, since Jinn's pics are flashed and the color is not accurate on them. If I compare the horsehide to the pics on page 31 the horsehide has a very different color, not that dark and the "living" patina makes a big difference.

As for the cracks. It is different on every jacket. The dealer I used to relay my order had 2 jackets made. The one i picked had a very different leather surface than the one he kept. So it realy depends on the the sheet of leather your jacket is made off since horsehide seems to be a lot more individual than cow, so every sheet has it's own look.
On my jacket the cracks are visible, but since it is all a little darker than on the pictures it just gives the jacket a more worn down look without making it look bad (at least in my opinion).

If the weather plays along we will make some more pics tomorrow. Hopefully the color will be more true to life on them.

Yeah, this horse hide is some interesting stuff. I do like the fact that every jacket is unique, even more than cow. Here are some pics of new horse hide jackets I found. How do they compare?

These 2 compare pretty good. The rest looks a lot softer and a little bit darker than my jacket was. Especially the collar where you see the patina change where it bends is a very good. The left side of the collar compares very much to the color and structure of my jacket.

Here we go, this time the pictures should be a little more accurate in color, even if I have to admit I used the jpgs again since I lag the nerve to work over the raws at the moment.

The guy in the jacket is me and gives you the advice never to chew chewinggum while beeing photographed. it makes you look stupid on most pics. :D

Cole, what's the hight for the back-end and front-end of the red waist stripes?
[/b]

On the front end they are 4cm (about 1,6") and on the back end they are 13cm (about 5.2") high.

*****, looking at this jacket, makes me want to get one so bad.. When I get enough money, Vanson's going to get a call from me..

well lets not forget that you cannot get this jacket from vanson anymore. only time will tell what the new jacket they offer will look like after some beating on.

i dont think its going to end up like coles.

Hey Cole,
when you store your jacket (take it off) do you hang it on the hanger, or just throw it down somewhere>? did you ever wad it up at first to try and break it in right away?
