Wolverine's Jackets

Sorry no update. I have yet to order a jacket due to Davidry1 saying that the part 1 street jacket is almost ready. Has anyone seen this yet? I have been trying to contact him for the past 3 weeks. I know he is very busy. If anyone has any info please let me know.

Thanks,

Greg

A letter huh? Hmmm... Mike? Did someone forget to mail me a letter? :D

I'm interested to see what the 1.5" to 5" stripes look like on the jacket. Thinking about having another more accurate one made during the summer (when demand is lower) and I want to get a good idea of how well these measurements work out. Can't wait to see your jackets.

KS,

I'll be sure to send you pix :D I'm going to call Mike tonight to see how my jacket is coming along.
Just to confirm that the stripes will be 1.5" to 5" when they are sewn on the jacket :love

The only time i heard of was from someone on SHH who called after the filmed was released I think. I dont know of anyone else calling about it other than that time.

Hi everyone.

OK my street jacket is almost ready.
I will have more pics once I'm happy with the front as well. I goofed on the collar and we're just redoing it...LOL...

The yellow/orange color is exact. I pulled some strings and got an exact swatch. :)

Dont be alarmed by the shiny nature of the skin. It's mostly the camera flash and it's also the prototype.
I just wanted to chime in and show where we're at with it so far. :)

Also, it will be approx 2 inches longer on the torso. Ya' like my butt? :p

I'll be able to do both X1 and X2. Adding or removing the yellow-ish leather inserts here and there are no big deal so it's just a matter of who wants which design.
If that goes over well, I'll be happy to do the X3 also.

The screen used one is heavily weathered. Once mine is beat up a bit, it should look pretty close to the real one. Making replicas of weathered items always raises questions on accuracy, but we have to all start somewhere and see if the process of aging it will give us what we want in the end.

More to come. Details to follow in the J/Y...it'll be affordable and even more so depending on how many I have to make. I'm almost ready with it. :)

Thats looking fantastic David. I know I'll be watching the JY closely. Definately dont want to miss that.
Big fan of the X3 version, so I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I just got a call from Mike @ Vanson this afternoon. My Wolf-style jacket is complete and will ship out today. WOOHOO....

I will post pix as soon as I have it in hand.

my buddy was the Wolverine photo double and stand in for the 1st film and I believe he did work on the 2nd one. No idea about the 3rd since I havent heard from him in a good while. The jacket he wore had the lining removed since he is very muscular. In fact, if you go back and watch the 1st film, when Wolverine in on the table, the close ups are his arm. He also did some fight scenes, rode the motorcycle...

Can anyone confirm that any of the Wolverine jackets had extra padding in them? My friend had mentioned this briefly as he had seen a padded jacket. Its possible it was for a stuntman.

After he did the first X-Men movie, he was offered the role of Spiderman in the suit. The idea, at the time, was to have Spiderman larger than life, then Toby was cast in the role...

Well, I came home last night to see this beautiful package waiting for me:

So, I quickly opened her up and took these pictures. Keep in mind, these were taken at night using the camera's flash:

There are a few issues:

1) I requested a no snap-back collar and as you can see in the pictures, it's there. It doesn't really bother me and I won't make a fuss about it but for those of you who have your order in, you might want to double-check that detail.

2) If you look at the close-up picture, look at the tops of the strips. They look almost white in the pictures. The leather is apparently dyed gold in large sheets and then cut into the stripes. The dye doesn't really make it all the way through the leather so, when it's cut you get that "white-ish" color on the tops of the stripes. It's actually more of a very pale-yellow than white in person. Again, doesn't really bother me but just pointing it out to everyone.

3) Everything on the jacket fits me perfectly... except the waist. If I was about 3 inches larger in my waist, then the jacket would fit me snug but right now, if I go outside in the NY winter, I get this blast of cold air that shoots up my front and back. I'm not sure if this is how motorcycle jackets are designed or if this is a tailoring issue. I called Vanson today but Mike is not in.

Other than that, I love this jacket. I'm glad GuntahKela convinced me to get the Walnut color, it's great. It's not as dark in person, it's a hair lighter shade. It's definately a close match to the MI-9 leather color (that you can't get anymore) that the movie version was made from. The leather is hard but not ridiculous tough. It's definately softer and more forgiving than the horsehide jackets I tried on at Vanson. It will stand up on it's own with a little convincing... where as the horsehide jackets you could just drop them on the floor and they stood up.

My waist stripes ended up being 1-1/2" in the front and 5-1/8" in the back. Looks good to me.

My wife is away for the next few weeks so, I didn't have anyone around who could take pictures of me in the jacket. Those will have to wait til later. I also wanted to try and get a picture of the jacket not using the cameras flash. So, the best I could do was use some track lighting I have installed on dimmers and take a picture without flash. I thought it might show the true color of the jacket a little better but not sure if it does... I guess you can be the judge of that.

I'll get pictures of it out in the daylight this weekend and again, the color of the jacket is not as dark as the pictures lead you to believe... it's a smudge lighter shade of brown. I really think it's dead-on in terms of color.

VERY NICE. I'm thinking walnut might have been the better option now. But that swatch was just so much darker than what is in your pics. But it's all good, I still love my Vanson. As for the fit in the waist, it shouldn't be super snug. Mine is abou the same as yours I guess. When zipped up. I can pull about 2"-3" in the front, so there's really no problem there. You gotta remember, these jackets are also made to fit winter liners, so they really can't be too snug to start out with. Can't wait to see more pics.

nice jacket man.

i can't believe that they didnt leave the snap back off of it like you requested.
i'd bitch about that.

for that price they should have honored your request, they charge you for every little thing, so i think you should get some money back.

just my opinion, but hey they'd nail you for every thing, why are they not liable.

but even with the snap back it is still a nice jacket. you gonna weather it at all?

Hi everyone,

Knightsaber asked me for some detailed pics of my horsehide X1 jacket.

I must warn you, the pics are not totaly sharp because today it was very cloudy and even with ISO 800 setting you could not get a decent shutter time (I did not want to use a flash or a digital workover because of the colors).

Hopefully the weather will be a little better o Sunday. Then I might be able to deliver some pictures of the jacket filled with me. :)

If there is anything special you want a detailed shot of just give me the word. Have to test the new cam anyways. :D
