It looks like the back of Cyclop's head. I swear, if I wasn't, already, getting a vanson jacket, I'd be soooo placing an order right away. Just look at that craftmanship, and that is only the back.

I think your jacket is on the money... The stripes seem a little bright, but I wonder how much of it comes from the camera. Now you just need to beat the snot out of it to make it look all worn in..... I think I will order the same color scheme.....

Yeah the camera really makes the stripes look a lot more yellow than they really are. In person, they are a really nice shade of gold/yellow with just enough orange to give it the right look.

we ship all over the world but we also have a dealer in the UK, Silvermans not quite sure the where abouts but to look them up cause it might be a little more convienent for you.

Not to mention the movie stripes have a lot of dirt/aging to darken them. Obviously, clean, brand-new stripes will look too light.

I can't wait to get one of these jackets. Looks like I'm going to have to sell some kids. Not literally. I refer to my lightsabers as "my kids."

I like the fact that the zippers on the sleeve go up really high (like Brando's in The Wild One)

No need to sell your kids... Just open a new credit card with no interest for a year... sell some stuff here and there and before you know it, the thing will be paid for. Thats how I buy all my big ticket items... works like a charm. I have made up my mind to get one of these jackets, but breaking down, calling, and measuring and ordering is another thing....lol... Maybe I need encouragement.. :confused

the movie jacket stripes were gold but because of all the weathering that jacket went through the finish from the overall jacket ended up blending all together..

maybe, but its all just a guess, since no one knows what the movie jacket really had.
i can see how maybe red could turn an orangish color after weathering, and like the wested stripes(the original color) with some oil seem to match pretty good as well.

is there any set way to weather leather?
is there any way for you to take some of your sample leathers and attempt to weather them? or even oil them up (which sometimes will darken them)

maybe that gold color would look better after some oil to darken them up
(i wouldnt try it on my $560 jacket until i seen some samples first)

does vanson have a weathering process? you can get pre-distressed leather, is there any instructions on how to distress it?

I think mmvanson may have an idea of what the stripes were originally H8... there is still some discussion on that but getting the closest color combo now is the issue.

Personally I'd go with a Vanson in Walnut with Octagon stripes... I believe that combo, with some light bead/sand blasting, will give the desired look of the movie. And that's the exact combo I plan to order eventually from them since we are now seeing some good interaction with Vanson.

Oh yeah if anyone is interested in my custom Wested (which has it's zipper on the correct left side BTW ) pm me...

I just learned that Wested will make a custom x jacket for you out of horse hide. They also put up new pictures today with some changes to the zipper placement, and stripe size. A nice looking option.

it took me about a month to finaly have them change the waist stripe width, and the pocket placement and angles....

now i see they like the changes i had them make and have made it their standard pattern.

about the horsehide, they didnt actually tell me they would make an X1 from horse hide, but im sure they will, they will charge extra for this leather though. i've been waiting on the horsehide swatch i will post when i recieve it in the mail.

the only description of it is "dark brown" so we shall see.

as far as the way the back is cut, they have told me

"we are working on a new wolverine jacket for the new year"

they do not have any pics yet but have assured me they will keep me posted.

and they do still custom size the jackets for free (but they are non-returnable)
because they only fit you :thumbsup
